My wife has a Powerbook Duo 2300c that has quit working. The
problem seems to be in the port where the ac adaptor plugs in. The
battery no longer works at all and when I try to start it from the
AC adaptor, the power will come on and off depending on the position
of the adaptor in the port.
Speaking of ADB/USB adapters, I would really like to be able to use
an older Apple keybpard (Extended Keyboard2) on my new Mirrored Door
Dual G4 mac. I tried a Griffin adapter, but it did not work. Is
there any sort of PCI card available that adds ADB ports ?

I just borrowed the adapter from a friend. I didnt know
I have a DuoDock 1 which worked for a short time with
the 280. The person I got these from repaired the
Dock's power supply, but evidentially didn't find
_everything_ wrong with it. I had the 280 in, put the
ROM image grabber from Basilisk II on the hard drive
then shut down and ejected. Tom

success by bending the prongs inside the adaptor together a little.

It keeps asking for the disk named EtherTech Installer. According
to the read me I have to make sure the installer folder is named as

I've been reading the DuoList for several months now
and learned of the 2400 GLOD problems. I'm curious if
anyone has looked at the design and tried to improve
on it? My thoughts are:
1) If it's heat related, the regulator IC may need a
better heatsink. The AC adapter puts out 24 Volts and
I used to think I had all my duo battery problems licked. Guess not.
As of 6 months ago, I had 5 working duo batteries, from 50 minutes to
150 minutes of battery length, as measured by Battery Amnesia.
As of 2 weeks ago, none of them work, including my 2 yr old recelled battery.

I tore my GLOD/COD 2400c down tonight (again). While it was apart, I
decided to track down and test every fuse that I could find on the thing.
There is a 2A fuse at F4 on the underside of the logic board that is bad.
It is almost dead center of the board.

The 3400 does not have room for more VRAM. There are no open pads
like the 2400 has. The 3500 might have 2 MB of VRAM, but the only
3500 board I have is dead, so I cant be sure.

I am trying to connect an external CD ROM to my 2400. I have it
terminated and hooked up correctly (as far as I can tell), but I cant
get the 2400 to even see the hardware. Is there some sort of
extension required on the 2400 for SCSI use ?

Not for SCSI, just for the CD drive.
Some of the options under OS 8.6 and lower include the 7.6.1 Apple
CD-ROM extension which booted 3rd party drivers or a generic driver
like FWB or other HD utilitypossible the one your drive came
with.

silverlining), the best I can do is see the CD ROM as corrupt or
damaged. It will never mount. I swapped cd mechanisms to get the
same problem. So, it would appear that the SCSI on this 2400 is dead.
Fortunately I have 3 spare power
Try this extension, it is an Apple extension that I
modified, it should be able to recogonize, mount and
even make a bootable drive from any brand CD rom.
It worked well for a Panasonic and a Sony.
