Hi,
This is N5PHT, Gary, writing from North Texas. I once before suggested this idea and it really didn't catch on - maybe I did not try it long enough and would really like to try again if there is some support.
The DX spots could be made in a uniform way that would really give helpful info in
You can just put so much on a line. Space now already limits the
information. But, whatever. Gone are the days when one worked DX
by the seat of his pants. No spots, no DX editors, etc.

While we're at it, we could put in enough data to have the PC auto tune
the rig to the freq., turn on the DSP, work the station and send and

It certainly would be handy if all spots were submitted in a standard way,
perhaps a 'form' for manual input, as then, the computer processing of spots
would be made a lot easier. I think a lot more programs would use spot-data
if only it was not so varied in format. 'Standards' are slowly

Hi Tim - There is something oddly backwards. I've invested years in assembling my station, antennas and in developing my listening and operating techniques. If I can hear the DX, I can usually work it in far less time than it would take to format a spot let alone a multi-field spot. Frequency and
Completely true, Steve. However, I'd regard
spot-processing as an additional function for those who want it, so all I'm
saying is that if there *are* going to be spots, a consistent format would be
handy.

You had to know it was coming, but it's still sad news. Remember when 73
was over 300 pages? Remember when it included what became Byte before that
spun out as it's own
Think this a good idea. Let's you know who is doing what with what. I shall
start doing !!
FYI:
Found BQ9P on 14017.9 this AM at 1050 UTC Clg CQ USA
with 579 sig on my vert. K=0, and A=8. His sig hung in there
until about 1330 UTC when it was 519 here in NC with some
auroral flutter. Maybe show
Hi,
ALL I suggested was a way to make the spots more useful. Some of us really enjoy studying propagation and enjoy trying to learn a little from time to time. If a station is hearing the DX and I am not I am very interested in learning why - which usually ends in a lesson in propagation /
