[DX-CHAT] QRZ.com
Several months ago, I lost access to QRZ.com. When I go there, the site comes up but will not search a callsign. This is both at QRZ.com or via Pathfinder. Has anyone else experienced such a problem or is it just me? Tnx es 73 N4TJ --- To unsubscribe or subscribe to this list. Re: [DX-CHAT] QRZ.com
Are you logged in? Fred started limiting lookups to 25 per day and now requires login (presumably to enforce it). Paid members get unlimited lookups. I end up using an alternative like hamqth.com which also has free XML access. Re: [DX-CHAT] QRZ.COM down?
It would appear that their nameservers (ns1.qrz.com and ns2.qrz.com) are unreachable. A nameserver is like an Internet address book: You say What is the address of qrz.com and it will respond with an address (an IP address) which in turn tells your computer, and all of those pieces of the Internet between you and qrz.com where it is (and, to some extent, how to get there). The problem is if you can't get to the address book, you can't find the address, meaning you can't get to the site. My guess is that both of their nameservers are located in the same place, so if they are having a network connectivity issue, or a power problem, or something similar, you won't be able to get to either one. Good Internet practice is to have one of the minimum of two nameservers located in a different location to prevent just such an issue, but for practical reasons, it's not always possible, especially for smaller sites. Re: [DX-CHAT] QRZ.COM where are you?
I just checked it and it is there. There is however, a message on it as follows: QRZ has been experiencing some intermittent network problems with our internet service provider. No data has been lost nor has there been any impact to system security. It appears that our local telephone company's lines are noisy and Tom Orr, W6HT It is not there now! 73, Leo CT1CSN - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, October 01, 2003 2:40 PM Subject: Re: [DX-CHAT] QRZ.COM where are you?
