I've just re-subscribed to the Reflector and seen messages about Demo Bug.
After upgrading to v. 7.07.02 it happens to me too. In order to ease
identification of the cause, here is the messsage I sent to Paul by mail today.
I did not attempt to use any Filters, it just happened when I wanted to
The only time I have encountered Thread errors are with COM port
misconfiguration... however you encountered an error when attempting to
write the file so it might be an IO error. You don't mention which OS
you were using. Without more information it is hard to guess at the
problem... but I
Dear DX4Win List Members,
I bought the SignaLink external USB sound card from Tigertronics thinking to
preserve my internal sound card for DX announcements. It is up and running
using DigiPan but no such luck with DX4Win.
Looking at Preferences/Control/PSK Sound Card - I have a choice
Your USB sound card will be one of 1, 2 or 3, most likely 1 if it's
the only other sound device in your system. Try that.

Windows give a number in every souncard they have.
Default is what the windows have choised in there soundmanager.
Experiment with 0,1,2,3. One of them is your sigmalink usb card.
Unfortunately i don;t know a way to find what number your system gave to the
usb soundcard.

They are different issues Radi. The Demo bug I believe was around in ver

believe is only in ver 7... (at least I never saw it earlier) but I have
never heard of it happening unless there is a hardware/configuration
issue. I
I don't know of anything in French, sorry.

Thanks to Jim, Kostas and Mel.
I tried Card 0, 1, 2, and 3 with no success. So I returned to Control
Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Audio and Changed the Default sound card to
USB Audio CODEX. Then returned to DX4Win and selected Default. All works
OK now except no DX announcements - a
OK.., then you have proven that the card works from DX4Win. I suspect
that when you are using card 1,2 or 3 you have not set the mixer
application correctly. I think Jim is correct, it should be card 1... I
have 2 sound cards and that is what I use...
If you have WSPR... if you run it, it will
Hi ,
I have ver 5 on active and backup computer. After coping from my

I have ver. 7.07.02 installed.
I do not see any support for the SDR Flex series of radios. Will this be
available in future software releases?

It would be a godsend if Paul would add the extra cat commands for the

always have the ts-2000 emulation (I have used it with my 5000 and it
works fine!).

My all files are archive but DX4WIN still reverts to Demo mode from time to
time. When started, it always finds and loads the last log file used and
reverts to Demo after some time of use.
So, wo2n had a particular problem that was solved by making files archive ,
but it doesn't mean the issue
I am running DX4Win 7.05.04 but nothing has changed from previous versions.
As I get more QSO's in the log (600k now) this issue becomes bigger.
DX4Win configuration has the same call window and the log book
window displayed. Then do an F8 search for call sign (AD1C for example)

Hi Mel,
The Thread error happened right after I tried to save my log , got error
message an exception occured, cannot crfeate file, the system can't find the
path , saved a log with save as and then tried to exit. So, it seams these
two errors are somehow related. The program did not revert to
What will be really nice is to have a pull down menu on the main screen
where you can choose a radio on the fly, while you can specify multiple
radios in the program setting as to what radio is hooked up to what serial
port, etc.
This will enable the DX4WIN to work with more than the two radios
One more thing I forgot to add to my wish list.
Similarly to the pull down tab to choose the radio you want to choose to
operate, another pull down tab for the rotors will be suberb. This way you
can interface various rotors to separate com ports and you choose the rotor
that you want to
I recommend getting a USB thumb drive for these kinds of transfers.
Even the 4GB ones are now fairly cheap, and is more than enough
storage for DX4WIN. It avoids the read/write problelms you had.
Plus, you won't have to throw it away when you're done, like you would
with a used CD.

I have been using DX4WIN's CW keyboard via LPT1 for years. I would like
to be able to use it with a second radio, and it seems that I can do so

If I recall correctly, in the PSK window, there's a way to right-click
somewhere to change the settings. This lets you set the sound card

would apply to RTTY.
Remember that -1 is the default system soundcard. The built-in
Jim,
There may be something similar going on when installing DX4WIN under
