Re: [Dx4win] LoTW submission with DX4WIN

2012-04-03 Thread Art - W6KY

Hi Loren,

The main DX4WIN screen has a window LOTW Upload Date.
This is automatically updated (if you say yes) after creating
the DX4WIN LOTW file...You can also show this field in
the logbook window of DX4WIN. This updates every QSO.

3 windows. QSL card, LOTW and eQSL can be updated.

So now that the ARRL has separated out LoTW and Paper DXCC applications I need

Earlier today I took advantage of the LoTW only submission. How do I set DX4WIN
to set as submitted only those LoTW QSLs that I submitted?

Thanks,

No good automatic way. Make the QSO window as big as you can using
F5. You'll see the award flags at the bottom. Manually set the DXCC
mixed and/or band and/or mode flags to 'S' for any DXCC credit that
you submitted via LoTW.

This may or may not help:

There is just no good way to track LoTW submissions if done entirely
from the LoTW web site (i.e. outside of DX4WIN). There is no way to
download the submission status into DX4WIN.

I still haven't changed my 2010 submissions to Checked, nor have I
submitted my 2011 credits, which were done entirely through LoTW
(about 50 credits). I do need to do this, and I have detailed notes
that I took *during* the LoTW submission process as to exactly which
QSOs were submitted for which credits. It's just a matter of setting

Get used to it, because CQ will start accepting LoTW confirmations for
credit for their awards programs, like WAZ and WPX.

[Dx4win] On-line DXCC Application is up

2012-04-03 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
The On-line DXCC Application form is up:

https://p1k.arrl.org/onlinedxcc/

Step 2 says:

If you use a logging program, you will find it faster and more
accurate to prepare an ADIF file containing the QSO information for
the QSLs that you want to submit with your application rather than
manually entering the information from each card. Use the Import ADIF
tab to import your ADIF file.

Here's how you can do this in DX4WIN:

First, peferform a DXCC Submission from the Reports menu (see
http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/dxcc.html for help)

To export ADIF, you will have to use an F8 search. Make sure your QSO
window is fully expanded (using F5) so the Award Flags are visible at
the bottom. Now, if you are submitting any credits for the DXCC Mixed
award, use F8 to search for 'S' in the DXCC Mixed Award flag. Then
File | Import/Export, and after making sure ADIF is selected, File |
Export. DX4WIN will ask if you want to use the current active filter.
Answer YES. Once that's done, do the same for your DXCC Band and
DXCC Mode submissions. Make sure you don't over-write the ADIF files
you create before uploading them to the ARRL server (i.e. don't save
them all to the same file name). I can't tell if the application will
let you upload multiple ADIF files, or if you only get one shot.
Maybe someone who does this can add more details, and this can be
added to the DXCC application note.

Yes, you can make multiple uploads ... subsequent uploads will replace
duplicated country/band/mode cards with data from the more recent
upload. As I understand it, an application will remain open and you
can return to it and add additional QSLs until you finalize it, pay
pay the fees and print everything for the card checker or mailing to
Newington with cards.

I believe it unbundles what used to be referred to as a hybrid
application. In the past, a hybrid application counted as a single
application (the first free one per year). Now if you do the
equivalent of a hybrid application, it's really two applications:
one for paper QSLs, and the other for LoTW credits.

Here is the fee structure:

http://www.arrl.org/files/file/DXCC/2012%20Fee%20Chart%20ver%207.pdf

Before, the first application cost $15 for a member of ARRL living in
USA (not counting any incremental per-credit charges). If I do the
math right, a on-line QSL application, plus a on-line LoTW
application, would cost a total of $12.50 (not counting any
incremental per-credit charges).

I checked with ARRL. You can upload as many ADIF files as you'd like. The
results of multiple uploads will be cumulative, but restricted to only

The only change you will see for LoTW is when you submit for an award. There is

I want to be able to record when I send a card, how I send it and
ideally, where I send it to. Then I want to be able to record when I
receive a response and how it was sent.

If I send three requests--one direct with an IRC and $2, one OQRS with
$5 via PayPal and one via the Bureau--and finally receive a response via
LOTW, I want to know when I sent each card, how and with what, and
when/how I received the response.

As QSL methods become more diverse and direct mail more expensive, these
kinds of records could be invaluable and would seem ideal for
computerization. Recent upgrades have emphasized awards and LOTW. I
would like to see equal emphasis given to the QSL process.

Bob,
The only change you will see for LoTW is when you submit for an award. There
is no longer an option to have cards checked as a hybrid. The final pages of
the process are simpler. I just submitted last night for my 12M DXCC (and a
pile of band countries) and it is already showing as completed. Very fast
now.

I keep these infos also. As Jim said you should use notes for this QSO
field. This field is really useful for any info specific to this qso only
and not to this call. If you have organized your records you could easily
track them. For example for evry oqrs request you should write OQRS 5$. So
if you want to search all unanswered oqrs requests you can search them with
f8 and writing oqrs into notes for this qso filed and cnfm flag N. What's
better from this?

Re: [Dx4win] FW: [DX4WIN] On-line DXCC Application is up

2012-04-03 Thread N7KA

03 April:  LOTW only.  105 claimed credits.  About 15 minutes from submitting
application (DXCC) to being able to see changes in my band/mode totals and to
print out new adjusted awards list totals.  I believe its an automatic, no
human interface system.

It is surprising to see old QSOs being confirmed on LOTW.  I had several from
5+ years ago that came up today that did not pop up on 01 March 2012. A few
folks are going back to much old logs and inputting that old log data.  I have
had a few confirmations from 20+ years ago via LOTW.

I have some QSLs to confirm QSOs for band/entity but must go through HQ;
includes a few deleted entities and 160M  QSO/QSLs.  That would rule out the
On-Line system that requires field checking of QSLs, not in a rush so I will
keep collecting more QSLs and let the HQ backlog decrease.

I believe the 3 systems will now contribute to reduced processing times for the
slower methods.  This can only be an improvement for us.  Hq needs a
THANKYOU  from those of us out here.
