Re: [Dx4win] dxcc vs. vucc

2012-09-12 Thread Mel Martin
He doesn't need to redo his uploads just update his LotW station info. Our
actuary at work is Hungarian born. If you drop me a note with the stations
name/call/e-mail at mel.mar...@acegroup.com I'll pass it on and have him
send a request in Hungarian.

To fix it in DX4Win set the VUCC flag to ignore on the QSO.

I worked a Hungary station on 6 meters on June 29th. A few days later, our
LOTW uploads matched giving me a new country on 6 for DXCC. Unfortunately ,
he did not fill out his TQSL info so he had no zone or VUCC grid listed. So
I did not get a VUCC match for his grid.

In DX4WIN, I show a letter C for a confirmation on VUCC reports as well as
the C for DXCC reports. It should NOT show a VUCC match because he did
not list his grid. I have asked him 3 times to complete the TQSL info and
resubmit all his erroneous uploads including mine (of course!), but he has
not done it and may not understand my English or want to do it. I do have a
card in the mail system which , if received some day, will satisfy the VUCC
requirement for the ARRL.

But can't DX4WIN handle my situation so I do not show that the his grid has
been confirmed?

So can’t I go back now and manually set upload date for all qso’s in the log
with “Set LOTW Upload Date” ?

Jim - you are right. I missed the entire log part. Thanks for catching
that. Sorry to everyone else on the reflector for the extra bandwidth.

  Bud, you missed this:

Bud...that was the issue. I did a clear Upload Date on my entire log,

He cleared all the upload dates, but then only exported 296 QSOs. Now
he has all the rest of his QSOs with neither an upload date or the
upload flag set. Hence my reply.

Now you no longer have any indication in your log that you already
uploaded the QSOs for which you cleared the upload date.

After doing that, he needs to re-sign his log and re-upload to LoTW. Just
changing the station info isn't enough to correct this.
(It will fix it for future uploads, but won't get the grid square added to
past LoTW uploads.)

DX4WIN can't distinguish this case. The only way software could do it
would be to have separate QSL GRID and LoTW GRID fields. Then you
would get credit if the QSL GRID was filled in, and QSL confirm was
set to 'Y', or LoTW GRID was filled in and the LoTW Cnfm was set to
'Y'. As you can guess, this can expand to many award fields if you
were to do it this way.

I (and others) have the same problem. After the initial submission,
my plan is to submit credits from the LoTW site, then back-annotate
the VUCC Award Flags in DX4WIN to match (i.e. bypass the DX4WIN
submission loop). It's a pain, I agree.

At some point, I plan to write a VUCC utility similar to this one:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/lotw/

I just have to have some time, which is in scarce supply these days.
Plus, I don't have the incentive to do it until I actually need it.

Do a search (F8) and in Date field put a date previous your start (for
example 01/01/1990 will give you all qsos after this date). When you
want to search for blank fields you should use 01/01/1901 instead of a
blank

Yes, Just press F8 and type any date into the UPLOAD DATE box and. On
the other hand if you want filter all QSOs not yet upload to the LOTW
press F8 and type 01/01/1901 in that box.

Recently the same call window has been suddenly disappearing from my

Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
