Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN Master Callsign list updated 22 January 2016

2016-01-22 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Right now, you can only get the January 25 updates of the master calls
and membership lists using the DX4WIN Data Updater:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/

When the update process is fully automated, the web page will be
updated as well.

Bernie, off the top of my head, the RTTY window was to operate RTTY
with external hardware devices that had a COM port interface, like a
HAL or TNC. The MMTTY window interfaces to the MMTTY software which
makes use of your computer's sound card.

Re: [Dx4win] RTTY & dx4win latest version

2016-01-22 Thread Dave Perry, N4QS
MMTTY can also make use of an external sound card such as Signalink USB or
any other sound card installed in your Windows software. Open the MMTTY
window in DX4WIN, select Option tab in MMTTY, then Soundcard tab and select
the sound card that you would like to use. As someone suggested earlier, if
you have an external soundcard for RTTY, it is good practice to ensure that
your computer soundcard is selected as the default in Windows--while the
appropriate external soundcard for RTTY is selected in MMTTY as the one it
will use. This ensures that computer generated sounds and beeps do not get
sent to your radio.

> The DX4WIN Master Callsign database was updated on 22 January 2016. It

There was a software problem with the announcement. The database
actually contains 175333 master callsigns.

This list used to contain over 230K callsigns:

http://dx4win.ad1c.us/data/calldata.html#Master

Club Log was using an inadequate filter which allowed many busted
callsigns to "make the cut". Now, a callsign must appear in the Club
Log database at least 40 times, previously it only required 20 QSOs.

The Club Log "super check partial" database also contained a few dozen
duplicate calls, which have now since been eliminated, once I reported
the problem. Finally, my software eliminated another 8K of bad
callsigns which it determined through several different heuristics.
The new list is much cleaner now.

Configure MMTTY completely OUTSIDE of DX4WIN. Make sure you can
transmit and receive.

Once that is done, all DX4WIN needs is the path to the MMTTY.exe file.
