Excellent, absolutely great! Works like a charm, thank you and K8ESQ who also

There are some minor differences in the files of K0EOO and K8ESQ. Not sure if
they matter:

I clear all SWL labels and try again : same result.
If I add the same SWL report without clearing SWL labels I get the message
An SWL exists already do you ant to remove it?. If I answer YES on NO the
result is the same : none report is saved and no label is printed.
Any idea ?

Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.01 issues

2009-08-09 Thread Tonno Vahk
Hi Guy,

Thank you for bringing out the steps but I hate to repeat myself. All this
is clear and simple but it does not work because the information gets lost
from the log through export-import and thus it can't be used.

I lose all the defined Groups and Selections. God knows what else (maybe SWL
records, etc, etc).

Thus this export-import is only useful for one thing as I see so far -
checking the CTY file errors. That's it.

I would love to get all this to Textpad and have fun with it but I cannot do
anything useful with the results I get from Textpad.

Waiting thus to have Paul fix this - I would REALLY love to have the option
of SPLIT AT THE FIRST SPACE like described my some others. And option of
choosing the delimiter. I have this problem that due to some earlier
import/export I have already doubled the Notes of the Call so I hope that
once this Split function is introduced there is also possibility to
overwrite anything on the QTH field by doing it. Then I can first split off
the double part with / delimiter and then split the remainder with first
space and whatever goes to the QTH field will overwrite the previous values.
That is my dream on that subject:)

Another dream I have is to have functional Remove Duplicate QSLs button
which is completely messed up now and deletes all labels when any QSO is
confirmed in this band/mode combination. It should absolutely ignore the
CONFIRMED flag and only look at the QSL sent and LABEL fields. I simply
can't understand why it has anything to do with Confirmed flag and why this
has been this way for many years and not fixed. Probably there is a reason.

And one question: Is there any way to set default Report view? It always
defaults to Logbook which is not what I like to use, thus one always has to
change when starting the program. Quite inconvenient. Maybe the solution is
to just edit Logbook report?

Mel,

Yep step by step would be a good start and always save with new name in case
Something goes wrong you can always go back one step.
With TEXTPAD you can select a part of the text where the changes
Should be made only, not 100% bullet proof due different length but you can
first
Make instead of a space another delimiter afterwards you rearrange the txt
to make that
Delimiter be recognized like a tab , then it will be much easier to search
and replace
I am used to work with textpad for many years now and am very familiar with
the possibilities
Build it, you can even create your own macro´s in it

 Dear Guy,
I think this will work as long as the QTH consists of just
one word. The problem is how to just change the first space
not the other. If this is solved I guess that one have to
change all other comments added to Notes for this QSO
manually. I have in those contacts with several different
operators and QTHs used , and | to separate them. Perhaps it
is better to do it in sequence, like export and remove all
that do not have any separation signs like , | and then
delete them from the data base and try to work with the less
complex. When those are fixed the other may be changed
 manually.

If you like you can try the following or wait until Paul

  because
  everybody has filled in differently.

  First step
Export your log in Version 7 using the dx4win6 I/E filter
  Name it ES5TV-v7
  Now you should have
  ES5TV-v7.DXQ and ES5TV-v7.DXN

We ARE only interested in the ES5TV-v7.DXN file
Open this file with TEXTPAD or similar editor that has

  JA1BNL,TAKA TOKYO
Now with textpad you search for a (space) and replace with
  (space)IN(space)
  Afterwards it should look like
  JA1BNL,TAKA IN TOKYO

If ok you do replace all

  Save the file

  Second step
  Open Version 7
  Close your log
  New Log
  Name it ES5TV-TESTLOG
  VERY IMPORTANT NOW
PUT 1 QSO IN THIS NEW LOG
  SAVE THE LOG with alt-s
  Now import with dx4win6 I/E filter ES5TV-v7.DXQ
Also the correct *.DXN needs to be there
Take the second option in possibilities

6.03 or later filter into DXQ file (and DXN), then close the log and open a

Re: [Dx4win] Ver 8.01 issues

2009-08-08 Thread Tonno Vahk
It does not work this way Guy!

I am also in trouble with the delimiter as I have used space between name
and QTH.

I have been trying to find way to export the log to change the delimiter but
it is impossible with DXQ-QXN export-import because the Notes for This Call
gets doubled! Meaning the old values are not replaced whatever you do but
anything you import on top of them are added with /.

Even if you export your log, delete ALL QSOs after that and import all the
QSOs back then your Notes for This Call get multiplied by two with / in
between. Crazy.

And it is not possible to open a new log file (thus getting rid of the old
Notes... data) and import all QSOs there because then you also lose all the
Groups list.

Thus as far as I have no idea how do change delimiter automatically in ADIF
file with my domestic tools like excel etc I don't see any way to accomplish
this task without the program being modified to let the user choose the
delimiter, better yet logic similar to Excel Text to Columns.

What I really need is to be able to split at the first space. As there are
often spaces in QTH description (like near Rome or alike).

Mel, that is what I am saying - in that case it does not double but I cannot
use it because importing into new empty log file does not bring the Groups

[Dx4win] Remove Duplicate QSLs

2009-04-17 Thread Tonno Vahk
Has been many years and versions ago since I found out and pointed out that
it did not work properly. It used to change BOTH Y labels to N if two QSOs
on the same band/mode combination were marked for printing even if NO QSL
had been ever sent.

I installed the latest 707 version yesterday and tried it again. No it is
even worse. It deletes ANY Y labels set if there is ANY QSO CONFIRMED on
that band/mode combination! That is disastrous and makes the function
useless.

Most of the time the usage would be that after registering incoming QSLs and
setting the Y labels one would want to run Remove Duplicate QSLs to change
labels to N if QSL Date is set for set band/mode combination. Now it does
check the QSL Date but also checks the confirmed flag and if it is Y then
deletes all Y labels for that band/mode combination. Why is that??

Anybody else trying to use this?

[Dx4win] Remove Duplicate QSLs bug

2007-06-03 Thread Tonno Vahk
I reported this 3 years ago in June 2004 and it has been reported by others
meanwhile. A very troublesome bug and really needs a fix finally.

Pressing Remove Duplicate QSLs does not actually Remove Duplicate QSLs if
the QSL Date has been set or Confirmed label has been set to Y for a QSO of
the same band/mode combination. The label can be Y for the same QSO even
where a QSL DATE has been set and it still does not turn it to N.

The help file says:
*
Remove duplicate QSLs

The print flag will be cleared for all duplicate QSOs. A QSO is considered a
duplicate when another QSO can be found that is for the same callsign, band
and mode and when that QSO is confirmed, a label will be printed, or a QSL
label was printed already.
*

So it only works in the 2nd case: when label will be printed but not in
the remaining two cases.

Maybe Mailed Cutoff is not working properly but it also does not take the
Confirmed status into account. The help file is clearly incorrect now and
causes confusion. And this otherwise nice feature turns useless and also
turns the MARK QSOs GOING... button useless as you cannot eliminate
Duplicates after using it.

I have not seen any comment on this yet but I truelly hope this could be
addressed finally. Paul do you have any ideas on that?

[Dx4win] 603 and Selections

2004-07-30 Thread Tonno Vahk
Yes Jure, same here. Thanks for noticing the connection with Selection.

I had the same problem. The QSOGroup turned into 6 at some point for no
reason from my usual 0 and I could not find the reason. Well, it was because
I selected the 6th (counting 0 as well) Selection to input QSOs.

So the QSOGroup number changes to the number of the Selection always when
the Selection is changed. When I go back to the 0 Selection the Group goes
to 0.

So that's a small bug to be added to the bug list for next version.

Subject: [Dx4win] 603 and Selections

 Hello,

I have a strange problem in Ver. 603 with SELECTIONS that I can not
solve. I will try to explain.

I have following selections (numbers are important!):

 0 All QSO's (Program default)
1 LAST 3 YEARS (Date filter, start date 01.01.2001)
 2 PSK31 (Group filter *12)
 3 HELL (Group filter *17)
 4 MFSK16 (Group filter *18)
 5 YT3FM (Group filter *10 - my old call)
6 IOTA 2004 (Date filter, start date 01.01.2004, end date 31.12.2004)
 7 S57XX (Date filter, start date 26.10.1992).
 8 QRP (Group filter *20)

 My Group names are:

 000 All QSO's
 001 QSO
 002 ARRL DX QSO
 003 ARRL 10M QSO
 004 WW WPX QSO
 005 ANARTS RTTY QSO
 006 CRNI VRH
 007 SCC RTTY QSO
 008 EU HFC QSO
 009 WW DX QSO
 010 YT3FM (Old call)
 011 KVP ZRS QSO
 012 PSK 31 QSO
 013 IARU HFC QSO
 014 IOTA QSO
 015 WAE QSO
 016 RDXC QSO
 017 HELL QSO
 018 MFSK16 QSO
 019 AA QSO
 020 QRP QSO

Under File/Preferences/QSO - Defaults for new QSO, I have defined group
 number 1.

In 602 I can choose selection, let's say IOTA 2004, hit F9 in Log input
window and there is still number 1 in Group box - bottom right of the
 Log input window.
In 603, after selection IOTA 2004 and hitting F9, I get number 6 in
Group box of Log input window. Now, if I check File/Preferences/QSO -
Defaults for new QSO, I find group number 6 there also. Restarting
program will leave number 6 in the Preferences.

If I select QRP, it will bring me number 8 in the box, selecting HELL
will bring number 3 and so on.

I have redefined all selections but this happens all the time. Is it a
bug in 603 or am I doing something wrong? For now I will stay with 602,
where selections works just fine - for me ...

 Thank you for any idea.

 Regards,

 Jure, S57XX

[Dx4win] SWL labels problem

2003-08-05 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tonno Vahk)
I have run into another problem with label printing. I have marked 309 SWL
labels for printing. Abt 1/3 of them is with my old call - ES5RTV.

I seem to find no way of differentiating between the two calls when
printing. The SWL labels are not affected by the Selection or the Filter or
import/export or anything. Whatever I do it still shows me 309 labels. So I
have no way of knowing which are with which calls and I can not set the
signature text in Preferences - Lab for the right call.

Anybody can recommend a solution or a way how to process those labels?

[Dx4win] Strange flaw in Importing with DX4WIN Filter

2003-03-26 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tonno Vahk)
Another most strange thing I discovered occurs when Importing a DXQ File
with DX4WIN3, DX4WIN4 or DX4WIN5 filters.

If the QSO time has 59 seconds in it the number or seconds is changed to 58
during importing!!! Can you believe it?

I spent quite a few hours trying to figure out why I get duplicate QSOs in
my log when I export some QSOs and then Import the same QSOs back selecting:
IMPORTED QSO REPLACES EXISTING QSO.

I did this operation because I wanted to set the CONFIRMED label to N for a
group of QSOs and this is not included into Multiple QSOs Operations. So I
had to EXPORT-IMPORT them. So for every 100 QSOs or so I got one identical
duplicate and I did not have the Show Seconds in Time marked in Preferences.
So it was quite a puzzle till I finally got to it.

I checked with other second figures and no problem but 59 is always changed
to 58:))) Can you confirm?

[Dx4win] A Bad Bug in Remove Duplicate QSLs!

2003-03-25 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tonno Vahk)
Some of my QSOs I had marked LABEL-Y for sending out constantly seemed to
change their LABEL status back to N for no reason. I was confused and what I
finally found out was a kind of a bad surprise:

If you have have received 2 QSLs from a certain station for QSOs on the same
band and mode in different times and you have either one or both of those
QSOs marked as LABEL-Y for replying then after pushing the Remove Duplicate
QSLs button both LABELs are turned to N!

In other words if there are two confirmed QSOs with the same station on the
same BAND/MODE the the program treats the situation as if you had ALREADY
SENT A QSL! It does not matter that the QSL Date is empty!

After running a search of confirmed but not mailed QSOs today and manually
checking them all I found tens of unreplied Direct and Bureau QSLs because
of that Bug. Sorry to those that have been waiting for Direct confimration
in vain! You will get it know.

Can anybody verify that bug?

Customizable Same Call Window is at the TOP OF MY WISH LIST.
I have sent it to the reflector but I am not sure you have noticed so sorry

I would like so much to see the RSTs, QSO Notes, QSL method, Label etc...of
the previous QSOs when some station calls me and I enter his call into the
QSO Window. Especially on low bands - don't you guys want to see if the
signal is stronger or weaker than last time??? But having started to enter

[Dx4win] Green on... + items for 6.03!

2003-02-07 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tonno Vahk)
It really seems to be no problem - the spot colors are definitely a lot more
infomative than in previous versions. I like the green stuff and you can
always turn it off although I see no reason...

As to SELECTING THINGS IN PREFERENCES to my opinion there are tens of other
small but more important things that might be adjustable/customizeable by
user. It is obvious that the variety and the amount of the users' wishes are
growing at faster pace than the program can develope at this stage so I hope
that the next updates will gradually take my wishes into account as well.

Just to name few I would really like to have (listed by priority):

1. Want to customize Same Call Fields! Please let me add other fields (RSTs,
QSO Notes...)!!

2. Want to customize all the field lengths in Logbook and please repair
Notes bug (described in previous e-mail).

3. Want to select multiple QSOs from Logbook window and/or

4. Want to search by exact time to time or by QSO number to number. If there
are 600 QSOs in a day and I want to perform a Multiple QSOs Operation on the
ones (say 244 of them) I worked before noon the only way to do it ONE BY
ONE!!!

5. In 6.01 the SSB reports changed to 3 digits - I am not happy about it. I
have never used 3 and I wish there was a small radio button in preferences
that allowed me to pick either 2 or 3 digits. Better yet the 3rd digit of
the report could be listed under DISABLED FIELDS!! I am in the process of
entering some old logs and now have to push 2 times more Enter for each QSO
I enter.

6. When Changing QSL Routing (e.g. Remove Duplicate QSLs) would like to see
which QSOs were changed!!

7. When importing QSL Managers or Managers' Addresses would like to see
which entries were changed!! Not just Replaced 55 and Added 32. There could
be messages the same way as when merging CTY files!

8. Please add Multiple QSOs operations: Change Date, Set IOTA (as Set USA
States). I know you can change Date by the number of days but if you're 10
years off it takes quite some calculation:)

9. NEW COUNTRY spots could also be Yellow/Light Yellow - not worked/not
confirmed instead of just one Yellow. Why not green/light green by the same
logic. Who considers it too colorful can always turn it off.

If at least half of those things were inlcuded in the upgrade I would really
feel like having a new version already. Out of the present new things in
6.01/6.02 I only found a few small things that were useful for me personally
(spot colors, IOTA inserted, KG4) and at least one minus - SSB reports.

I hope it is of help!

But then why aren't we allowed to select which way we want it in the
preferences? That would make it quite easy for us to eliminate those
green
worrisome spots that we must learn to ignore. I don't know how tough it
would be to eliminate them in software but with all the options Paul's
magic
allows us, it seems that this should also be an option.

Another option I would like to see is to eliminate or be able to eliminate
the Priority column in the spotting window. That is meaningless to me.

 Charlie, W0YG..

2003-02-03 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Tonno Vahk)
