This is an old thread, but I have just gotten around to trying to get a
second sound card working. Unfortunately, I have not been successful.
I am trying to use an external (Audigy) USB sound card together with an

gives more information than the Manual. But this time both left me
confused.
I don't see anything in Windows (XP - SP2) that designates the audio
cards as 0 or 1 or -1 or anything

have you tried just the second sound card and
disabling the old one?
