Ecolog: While I do understand that an increase in species diversity is a "logical" conclusion to be drawn from data derived from surveys, I believe it is an overgeneralization; as such, it cannot be extended to all areas, and much more work needs to be done to better understand the causes of biological diversity. I believe that it should be relatively easy to improve understanding of other factors that add up to a more complex set of phenomena that those relationships alone.
Does this statement, as far as it goes, comport with your understanding or is the present and apparent logic behind the species/area curve valid and sufficient? I look forward to your comments. WT
