Hi,
I use my K2/100 mostly mobile and love it. I work DX a couple of times a
week. The only one issue I don't like is the side tone volume adjustment I
have to do all the time. My commute is part on the freeway and part through
the city. The noise level on the freeway is obviosly higher, a side t

I have an Icom 706MKIIG as a mobile rig.
Folks,
I had previously suggested a 'wire-OR' off pin 17 of the MCU to accomplish
external muting for the K2.
Jack Brindle pointed out that CMOS logic devices can be overloaded with such
a 'wire-OR' configuration without a current limiting resistor. I have used
many 'wire-OR' circuits with TT

I purchased the "Blue Jean" cover from Stan and the site Eric referenced.
Its is a very durable cover fits well and Stan was very accommodating as for

I usually use my K2 with external power from a 12V AGM battery but would
like to be able to charge the KBT2 battery from the same charger I use
for the AGM battery (a Battery Tender 3-stage). I remember reading that

Hi,
Following reports of poor transmitted audio, and aided by a fellow K2
owner we set about a little investigation.
What happens..
Raspy, clipping?, (distorted by RF?), almost Dalek (For UK readers!!),
sounding transmit audio.
We checked the various board, joints etc, swapped things with the k

good Christmas story with a twist that we'll all enjoy. Happy Holidays!

It's been a chore getting the SSB kit to work, first the low gain which was a
bad solder joint near RFC1 and now I have a question on the carrier balance
adjustment.
Doing the coarse adjustment I get a full indication on the S-meter when I set
the SSBA param to BAL. Adjusting R1 has no effec
Hello all, K2 #4595 arrived this afternoon. After more than two years or so of
lurking on this reflector, I decided it was time to take the plunge. Will start
the inventory this evening and maybe get started this weekend. This will be a
good project in addition to the experimental aircrft which

after it is all mounted together? "

Hi Stan,
OK, you got my curiosity up. My 'Santa to me' box had to be opened to
check out your dilema.

Jack,
It is not uncommon to 'wire-OR' bipolar devices. We commonly do that with
other CMOS family devices which also spec a source/sink capability of 25 ma.
or more.
Yes, that is equivalent to shorting to ground with one of the devices at a
logic high level.
The sourcing spec for a bi-polar de
Ack! You sure you want to do this, Don? Pin 17 is bipolar drive, so you
would be shorting a relatively high-current output (25 mA per spec) to
ground. That has a good potential for letting smoke out of the MCU.
IF you do this, I HIGHLY recommend a current limiting protection

Looks like Stan K7NUU makes the perfect one for the K2. Thanks for all the help!

Last weekend I had the opportunity to hook up 2 different portable antennas
and try a comparison on the air. The 2 antennas were a 42-foot wire (with
32-foot counterpoise) and a 300-ohm twinlead-fed inverted V for 40m
supported by one of those SD20 fishing poles from World Radio.
The rig was the

The price at Selectronic is 7,50 euros, of course (and not "?")
