Do a search for Connecticut Solar. I purchased a couple of panels from them.
You will also need a controller.
Best of Luck.

Given the size and weight of batteries, I had hoped to use a 36 Ah battery,

My experience with a marine battery about that size in my sailboat with a
solar charger with a regulator was it the battery stayed topped off all
summer. TWithout the regulator, it would overcharge. Also, shop
around. I only paid $80 for my 1 amp flexible solar charger a few years
Hello all,
Has anyone installed a digital voice recorder in a K2? I activate
lighthouses and covered bridges all the time using ssb and it sure would
save my voice. I presently use my TS-570D only because it has the
optional voice recorder in it. My dream would be to use my K2 100w Rig,

Radio Shack sells/sold a board for $9.95 which held up to 10 seconds..one

I installed one in a small handheld box which i use for PTT / interface for
a computer headset /boom mike. TheALTEC' branded boom headset with
electret mic was closed out at Compusa for $7.95...and the combo

Another possible solution -- I believe some PDAs can play MP3 or WAV files,
so if you pre-record files on your home PC, they can be loaded onto the PDA
for playback. You would have to create some sort of interface between the
PDA output and the mic jack and the PTT line if you do not use VOX.

I would say that the K1 receiver has a performance advantage
over the KX1.
If you are trying to decide which of the two to buy (tough decision,
that's why I own both) I would suggest that you think
about how you plan to use the rig.
If you are looking for something that will primarily
I’m on page 61 - VCO Alignment where you adjust Inductor L30 until the
voltage at R30 reads 6.0 volts
L30 is at the top stop and the lowest I can get is 6.3 volts. I spread
the turns on T5 as wide as possible to get this low. T5 has 16 turns. Do
I need to remove a turn to bring L30 back
I am wondering about backup power for a K2 based station.
The configuration would be a K2 with KBT2 and a KPA100 built into an EC2.
One AC Powered 24 amp continuous/30 amp maximum power supply running both plus
a few minor station accessories.
If the AC mains fails will the KBT2 continue to
Eric,
First, since the voltage at R30 apparently moves with adjustment of L30,
things are working, but the VFO is not at the correct frequency.
First things to check are the capacitors and Varicaps to be certain you have
the 'right ones in the right holes'. Look at the RF board schematic sheet
I've said this as well. I have not been able to determine why, but I prefer
copying CW on the K1 over the K2. I always choose the K1 for casual
ragchewing.
There is some quality to it that my ear seems to respond to. Also, many
times I have been able to copy signals on the K1 that are in the

I found an easy way to fix the tilt bail was to tie a few turns of string or
thin cord around the bail and tighten it up with a rod looped through the
cord and twisted a few turns - just adjust the tension until the bail fits
easily between the feet, fix the feet and then release the cord.

Geee,
I simply put rubber bands on the bail until the ends were close enough
together to install. Remove the bands one at a time. Took about 5 min.

I have the setup you describe. KPA100 and tuner in the separate
enclosure and a K2 with the battery and the low power tuner. I power
both with an Astron RS20 with the modification for charging a
battery, RS20BB if you buy it that way.
I checked to see what would happen by turning off power
Darrell,
I would like to inject just one additional way of keeping the internal
battery charged - connect a smartcharger directly to the K2 internal
battery. Take a look at my webpage article relating to using a SmartCharger
