I just finished everything and I'm ready for
Alignment and Test, Part III on page 74.
I switched the power on and it's behaving
nicely taking 220mA at 12.2V with the display
on and the bar graph in dot mode.
That's all for tonight.

Dear all,
I have got the answer from Elecraft that C80 and C81 in the KPA100 driver
section should be increased to 5600 pF. I had
already soldered 2 additional 4700 pF caps parallel to C80 C81, which cured
the problem for me. I will reduce the
capacity of C80 and C81 down to 5600 pF later.
Dear gentlemen,
I have two questions regarding the KPA 100 option:
1) What is the safe continuouse power level, which can the KPA 100
deliver for example for one hour?
2) How does the PA transformer work? Somehow the cores itself seem to be
the primary input of the
transformer?

Hi! I`ve finished my KX-1 serial 1142 with its 30m module automatic
antenna tuner but I have some problems with the last one:
1. When I activate the TUNE function with my Vee dipole which has an
SWR of 1.3 I hear the relays working, I see ATU on the screen until it
finishes and see P0.1 (so
Hi,
I have noticed that my noise floor is very low on 20 meters compared to
30 and 40. Signal levels are high on 20 meters when the band is open.
When I take the cover off, I notice the antenna tuner blocks the 20A
tuning, everything else I can get to.
What do you suggest? Also, what
Martin,
The safe operating level will be determined primarily by heat. For
continuous operation, you may want to consider an auxiliary fan pulling air
up and away from the heat sink fins - a muffin fan will do nicely and can be
salvaged from an old computer. By my recollection devices rated for
Hi, Paul.
I find the opposite to be true! When I connect my
26ft
wire to the BNC centre connector the receiver comes
alive
with signals!
When I connect the 16ft counterpoise to the outer of
the BNC, the receive level doesn't change at all.
But it does match better :)
I also get much better
I'd like to have my ham SWL radios use the same decent quality
external speaker by routing audio probably via one of the lower end
Behringer UBxx02 mixers. Does anyone have a favorite external speaker
he'd recommend? Soundsweet.com, MFJ, makes little difference as long
as its big :-), others?
As I recall, the procedure for tuning the caps is to be done with the tuner out
and bypassed with a jumper, so I don't see why the tuner blocking the cap would
be a problem.
Regarding the alignment tool. I wish I could say for sure which one is needed,
but I know the one I use comes from the

I also have a soundsweet and it is indeed a nice speaker -- very large (about
1 foot per side) and a bit pricey ($130.00 rings a bell, but they charged me
sales tax as a NY resident) , but all in all very nice.

Hi folks
Im starting to wonder if the 160 module is bad.
The antenna switch only works if it is in preamp mode
If the preamp is switched on with the r ant on the r ant will not
switch off or on.
Also large attenuation of signals when it is on the standard
antenna. When switched to the r ant
Hi list!
I thought I could do the last steps of my XV144. Heard my first 2m beacon
today! And I have 20W output power.
Everything is fine except: The overload test fails. It fails in a way that
absolutely nothing is happening while performing the test.
When removing the jumper J8 the XV144 sign
Hello George,
Did you remove RF board jumper W1?

Mike,
Yes, a mixer will do a fine job of that task, and you may even want to route
the computer soundcard through it as well.
For speakers, I have previously built a small external amplified speaker
that I have tailored the range for best communications for my ears, but I am
moving to a setup
George,
There is not an obvious connection between the Rant and the PreAmp - unless
you have something shorted to an adjacent circuit. Check the soldering on
the header below the RF Board and on the 160 meter board. The only thing on
the 160 meter board are the relays and the low pass filter
Hi
I have been supplying a Solar Charge Controller Kit for several years. This
controller will keep a SLA or LA 12 volt battery charged from solar panels
of 3 to 200 watts. Batteries of 2 amp hour to 110 amp hour have been used
with these controllers. I have four of these kits left at the
Yes the Jumper has been removed
I took the board out and checked the
relay out using the relay schematic and found the
relay was not unlatching from the rant position
Another one bites the dust!
