Leigh,
I don't think that applies in this particular case, it is however good
information to pass along for those with a setup like yours.
Phil said he was using the transverter interface for output, and I assume
that means the K60XV output.
The K60XV has its own source for VRFDET, so it would

Hi Jerry:
I guess I don't understand at all how to use the spot feature. For all I
know my K2 may not even have it. I just listened to N0SS 2 different wav
files and still can't figure out what I'm doing. When I hit the Spot
button, same as Rit only held longer I get SE L 143. The number
I too had RFC15 go open and I also was very careful and didn't think I did
anything to break it. I was even more careful with the replacement and it
works fine.
I'm not sure if bending the leads made it go open circuit or heat from the
soldering process. I didn't yank on the leads but you sure
You can also use the SPOT button with the RIT feature to ZERO BEAT de

Select a CW station activate de SPOT feature... activate the RIT feature...
decrease the RIT by 700 Hz... and finish to ZERO BEAT the station now with the
main VFO knob... once ZERO BEAT... un-select the
Hello everyone,
I recently moved to Uruguay and am CX/K6CT, at least for now; may get CX
callsign in next 6mo or so. I am using a DK9SQ fiberglass pole with a
delta loop. The mast is secured (sorta) to the patio support with bungee
cords. I do not have access to a modeling program (not sure I

Where is the ALC line? I need it to attach to 144 mhz amplifier. I have K2
only, no 100 watt option. Use the transverter interface for rf output.
thanks

Most of my CW work is contests. I don't have time to adjust the level. Most
of the time I can hear that the two tones are the same frequency. But
sometimes my ear tricks me and I'm off by some happy sounding interval, like
a whole octave or a fifth or a third. All I was saying in my post is that
I was having problems with my recently constructed

to Gary at Elecraft Service about the situation. He
made suggestions and then Jack joined in. They asked
for pictures of the board and spotted my gaff (swapped

Chuck,
Your speaker assembly is very well executed, I'm impressed!
I too have built up the N0SS TDA2003 amplifier but have yet to install
it in an enclosure or activate it.
Your rendition has inspired me.
Are you using a pair of the Elecraft supplied speakers? If not what
brand and where
Phil,
There is no ALC input to the K2, and normally it is not needed. There is
ALC internally in the K2 to keep the output level at whatever power is
selected on the POWER knob.
Adjust the output level of the K2 to the proper level to drive the
transverter to full output, and the K2 will
I have an Elecraft KX1 with 40, 30 and 20 meters, internal auto

Haven't seen this problem lately...
I am adding the K60XV option to a K2. During the VCO alignment the 60M
level is waaay down, ranging from 0.8vdc to 1.2vdc; far below spec. All
other bands are fine. Visually verified the usual suspects (D19, D20,
C71) are installed correctly.
Brian,
You did change C71 to 120 pF did you not? C73 is also a suspect, check that
it is 47 pf.
What voltage do you get at 4 MHz? It will normally be in the 6 to 7 volt
range when everything is proper. If relay K13 is properly operating and the
capacitors are the correct value, things should

On a related subject, ff you have a KAT100 (not likely if you are using
a transverter) the Vrfdet line from it takes precedence over the KAT2 or
internal RF detector in the K2 and the power control will make the
output at the KAT100 match the knob setting on the K2. This is a
problem if you

Fred:
You are doing it right. This discussion is mainly by people who think
the down arrow isn't a good enough indicator of split mode. Either
that or they just like to constantly improve their K2. I have too many

My K60XV is now working. The best tip you gave me was the CAL FCTR vs.
the VCO table on the lower 60M band edge. When I found the frequency
was extremely close, I decided to try your suggestion of shifting all
the VCO voltages up by adjusting L30. I adjusted L30 while tuned to
