[Elecraft] Elecraft CW Net Announcement

Good Evening, I am sitting in a warm house tonight. I collected the scraps from around the woodshed to build a fire. I thought 55 degrees at my desk was a bit too chilly. One of these days the wind will shift from the Gulf of Alaska to its other path from near Hawaii and we will be

Except that, having a car isn't as required in the UK as in the US, and I don't think you have average ppl in the UK doing 20K miles a year. I myself am quite a light driver, only doing about 7k a year. And, car insurance in the US is generally $100 a month and up, not sure what it is in

[Elecraft] Wayne...Eric...K2 with USB anytime soon??

Way back when, 78, I wrote the RS-232 QTTY Interface software for the then Exxon QYX Intelligent Typewriter. I remember when I started that project, looking up the RS-232 Standard - at that time I recall it was an old Bell standard interface - both hardware and software functionality. And at that

[Elecraft] KX-1 and Zero-beat Tuning Indicator?

2006-06-18 Thread Scott Walker
Just curious if anyone who has installed the K6XX SMD zero-beat board in their KX-1 has noted or even noticed how much it reduces the battery life? It would seem to me that if it is flashing all the time as you tune around and QSO that it would have a significant effect... I haven't installed

Most small-volume projects I've seen just use the FTDI USB to serial interface. Basically it moves the USB-to-serial interface into the project. Not real sure if it's hard to use, but check out the WinKey USB to see an example. I also have a PIC programmer that uses the same chip. The serial

It seems to me the glaring error with Elecraft's serial port implementation is the ability to blow the I/O card out of the water if you use anything but the special K2 serial cable. They should have designed it so you could use an off the shelf serial cable. Way too much damage exposure.
