Kurt, From all you have said, I would believe that the problem is in the KXB3080 low pass filter. While I agree that your continuity test indicates no apparent problem with the toroid lead tinning, check all the connections to be certain there is a bit of solder on both sides of the board -

Don, I'll check the LPF board closely. As far as whether the signal increase, I believe it does. Since, when I touch it, signals I an hearing on my other receiver become apparent in the KX-1 also. And, I believe the XG-2 signal is increasing (only by ear). I say that because the

I was the first to respond to your question. I told you that I was listening to RTTY through the 200 Hz, 5 pole filter and it worked fine. Then the experts came on here and using many words, explained why it couldn't work because it is too narrow. Using a excessively narrow filter on

I like those handles on the ends and the built-in front firing speaker. The handles would be a nice option for the k3. And a 4 to 5 inch wide (0.5EC-3) cabinet could hold a nice front firing speaker and a switching power supply. If this could be attached to the K3 side panel and then add

Stupid thing sent the message without me finishing it. Somewhere in the past Simon Brown (HB9DRV) wrote his favorite settings for the K2 for PSK31 and RTTY. I do not know if he wrote about slow scan filter selections. I don't seem to be able to find it. Does anybody have those settings? I have

That's a wonderful idea Henry. It would be a great option for Elecraft or even a 3rd party. The K3 lends it'self to that kind of expansion since it's got those machine screws all over it. Actuall, a front firing speaker on each side for stereo rx would be even better. Steve Ellington [EMAIL

Don, Okay... Frustrated, but here's what I found On the LPF1 board, L1, 1 and 4 were reversed and shorted together. This means that, for all intents and purposes, L1 was a wire. Okay, well, it's a wire anyway, but with a lot less inductance. You know what I mean! Hi, hi... This
