I've been doing some experiments to improve the performance of the antenna splitter. The one I initially tried from http://www.qrp.pops.net/swl-ant-split.asp works but has poor bandwidth. I have now substituted a trifilar would unun transformer on the input feeding the Wilkinson splitter.

There is an impedance mismatch between the Elecraft Hex Key and the K3 causing it to produce a ghost signal on harmonically related bands. I believe this is a firmware bug in the paddle and am asking Elecraft to look into this at once! I have tried to download the latest beta firmware for this

I've found that playing with the AGC SLP and AGC THRESH settings has really helped me out in this arena. I found that especially with the narrower filters that I was having this issue. You also want to make sure that you don't have too much additional gain thrown in for your narrower filters.

Thanks for the explanation. As you say, noise levels differ between bands and over time E.g. 80m in Summer compared to Winter or HF versus 50MHz and higher bands via a transverter. Does the AGC setting apply per band or does it cover all bands? AGC also depends on mode, CW vs SSB bandwidths.
