As noted on our orde form, our matched offset filter spec is to within 40 Hz or
less, since our 5 pole crystals can vary in center frequency from batch to

Set the offset for the two filters identically to the nearest 10 Hz value half

Ron, there are other considerations. The tubes available today are made in
China. I had very bad luck with two sets of Taylor brand 572Bs that were made

I am still using the 572Bs that I bought in 1976 used. So,
Sandy, did you ever take a look at what a kilowatt amp cost in 1955? It would
be more than than $3,000 when $3,000 was a year's pay for most.

Well the ALS 600 I had did not put out 600 on all bands. It was especially

I bought my 572Bs about ten years ago, 10USD for each one. After 5+

Hello Gary, and congratulations! Opening up the K3 again is not nearly as
traumatic as you might think.
The POWER control will *ask* for more than the rig can deliver. It's spec'd
at 100 watts, and that's what is guaranteed. The K3 can make a bit more than
100 watts on most bands, but that's all
With 8 x MRF150 the ALS-1300 has the same transistor component
at a Quadra ... and probably the same power output. What is
lacking is six meters, the tuner and QSK.
As far as the band decoder ... ALS-1300 will be +12V to select
band (all on one RJ-45) vs. Yaesu format BCD for the Quadra

A crowbar circuit is used to disable the power supply in the event of over

power supply.
A typical crowbar circuit uses a SCR triggered by a voltage sensor. The SCR
conducts and shorts the output of the supply.
