Jim, The middle layers of foam have serrated 1/2 cubes. I laid everything out to where I was happy with it and then put toothpicks in the corners of stuff to mark where to cut. I then used a bread knife to cut out the blocks. Non-square items are a little more challenging, but you'll get it

The opposite is also true. If you turn off VOX in RTTY, it stays off, regardless of previous settings in SSB mode. I suspect it is because DATA A and AFSK A are special cases of SSB. You will find that FSK D and PSK D are special cases of CW as well. The VOX status is maintained
