Dear Elecrafties,
Does anyone have any idea why my subRX might be intermittent on 40m?
Sometimes, for no obvious reason, all I get is hiss in my right ear, no

think it's the subRX attentuator/preamp, antenna, RF gain or
Mario,
Check to make sure your input is checked in your OS or Sound Card software.
That was one of my problems when I first set mine up. Mine wouldn't stay
checked either until I updated the drivers.

I would look for an intermittent solder joint in the 40/60m section of the
KRX3's BPF (Appendix B, next to last schematic .pdf below). I would try
resoldering all joints in that section.
It seems the CW pitch is getting lost during power off.

The NTIA Redbook specifies a frequency stability

Michael,
Yes, that KAT2 firmware will work fine in your K2 with 2.04/1.09
firmware/KIOC.
I am confused about the KSB2 - the latest KSB2 firmware is 1.08 which
added a 0.2 second delay for VOX, and 1.07 added support for the changes
in the KPA100 firmware. That information is on the order
I like the Edit CW Memories feature in the new K3 Utility.
If I understand the Help file correctly, a vertical line character
at the end of a memory entry will force the K3 to immediately
stop transmitting, thus bypassing any CW Delay selected by
the front panel knob.
However, I just tried

Quite right. I should have said no more than 40 Hz total drift.

Chuck,
The vertical bar (!) character replaces the IM (..--) character that
would be input using the CW paddles.
It serves no purpose in CW, but ends the transmission without the
software 4 second delay for data modes.
The K3Utility help file specifically states immediately terminate a

This is correct. The prosign is only used in conjunction with FSK-D and PSK-D
programed memories to truncate the 4-sec trailing delay. It has no effect on
playback of CW memories.

Make sure that you're in AFSK or PSK A modes, not SSB. Then make sure that you
actually DID turn up the line input (MIC) level in THAT mode, it changes when

My vote goes to the K1EL Winkeyer USB. Easy interfacing of computer and

immidiately stop the output and one can take over manually. Also has a speed

I have had my K1EL Winkeyer USB for a while now.
It is the first keyer I have had which can be set to Ultimatic, and I find I
make fewer mistakes in that mode. A plus over the K3 built-in keyer.
Its computer interfacing is a big plus too.
On the other hand, the speed pot leaves me guessing as to
