Hi,
During the Christmas holidays I spent a lot of time on 80m and I came across
the problem mentioned on the reflector some time ago.Sometimes I can hear a
strong station twice.Yesterday, for example I heard a strong German station
on 3514 and a few khz down I heard the same signal again, but

I've heard the same thing but with many other receivers. It usually turns
out that the transmitting station has a problem though. Low power supply
voltage is a common cause of transmitted spurs. I know one guy in PA (state)
who has a TS-450 with a spur down about 200Hz, weak but strong enough
Correction:
The PA station was running a Kenwood TS-570. His spur was down frequency
about 400Hz. I have also head spurs from SGC 2020's and TenTec Paragons both
caused by low PS voltage.

I recently had Q6 on the LPA board fail shorted, in which case you will get
no power out at all.
It's a MOSFET and very prone to an ESD event since it is on the antenna.
Check gate-to-source resistance with an ohm meter. Should be 800 or so ohms.

My XMIT key on my K3 stopped working Anyone have that? CW still works.
NOT is test mode either. DISP key stopped working too. I was checking other

This is weird. Anyone have any ideas?
If your radio is doing it, you will hear that on ALL loud radio
signals. This would be especially true of the carrier on AM broadcast
stations. If only on one signal, it's their problem.
There are a LOT of transmitters that have transmitted frequencies well
down besides the main transmission. A
Good news - I replaced the thermal pad between heat spreader and case

difference. Case heats up right away and things cool off fast after

Jim,
Are you getting enough audio into the K3? Set the K3 to TX TEST and
look at the ALC bargraph. You should have 4 bars lighting solid with
the 5th bar possibly blinking.
If you are not seeing that indication on the ALC meter in the K3, you
are not driving the Line-in with enough audio.

Check to see if audio is coming out of your computer,

Jim,
I just checked the Navigator documentation on the website. It does not
state whether line level output is available or not, but there is an
option called RF ATTN which by default inserts 20 dB attenuation into
the audio output. For use with the K3, I would think that should be set

Brian,
The DC voltages on Q24 are based on a properly working K2 at the 5 watt
power level.
What you now have is a K2 that will not develop power to the RF
Detector, so the power control circuits will react to force the RF
voltages to their maximum - the control element for that is the VALC
