Bob,
This can usually be corrected (at the K3) by re-doing the power
calibration steps, or by manually setting CONFIG:TXGN HP to a somewhat
lower value. This adjusts the open-loop gain on a per-band basis, and
should correct the overshoot. To change the TXGN HP value you have to

Interesting question. When I first received the amp, it took 20/25 watts to
drive it to max with a 1:1 SWR. Still 1:1 but now takes 40 watts to drive
it. I don't think it's a problem but interested if someone can explain it
to me.

What question Phil? Nothing included in your msg.
What band? The drive required varies quite a bit from band to band. Example:
my KPA500 needs just 20 watts for 500 out on 40 meters, but a full 40 watts
for 500 out on 6 meters.

My external watt meter does not agree with the power output bar graph display
on the K3 except in the very middle of the power range. While turning the

display. But my watt meter display goes from about 5.8 to 7.5 W.
Sorry! A 'senior moment' sent this to the incorrect reflector!

OK, seem to have solved the problem. The P3 XV Gain #1 setting was way
wrong, in fact never set right. Also had to switch the P3 XV Invert #1
to inverted. So now appears that I can see the 2m spectrum with the P3.
Just have to go get a signal generator to calibrate the display.
