If you have a KX3, I think that you can use that one as a remote control panel
for the K3, at least it works on my TS-590.

Strange thing happened on 20m two nights ago on 14.023. I was listening to all
the mayhem with huge pileup on FT5ZM earlier in the evening. The DX station was
still strong but around 0434Z the callers started to disappear. I decided to
take the KPA500 offline and worked with a barefoot KX3.
Way to go Elecraft guys.
Or more accurately: Way to go YOU!

Greetings All, My K3/10F now K3/100 plus mostly loaded has a problem.
The mic connector has to be pressed down a bit to get PTT when using
the K3 on SSB. I use a Heil PR781 mic that goes through a Rigblaster Duo.
The connector to the K3 comes from the Duo and is never changed or
fooled with.
Jim,
Thank you. This might be my issue. Here are the settings in my ini file:
CATdriver=/dev/rig
CATport=/dev/ttyUSB0
CATportIndex=9
How were you able to determine your actual USBSERIAL name and location?

First thing I'd do is eliminate all but the mic, cable and K3. If problem
persists check plug on cable. Then at mic end. Finally check other items one
at a time.

Glad to help and that your rig control is working. I had a devil of a time

The ground is not needed on the audio output line. If there was to be
one it would be connected to chassis ground, and that circuit already
has a chassis ground connection.
An Elecraft-wired mic won't use pin 5, so it's safe to leave the audio
out connected to pin 5 of the header.

Dhoh!
I'll post up a revised version with the OUT label corrected. Thanks for letting

It's good to know that it works.

Kevin,
With the Elecraft pinout, pin 5 is defined as FUNC - which was never
implemented in the K2, so that is the choice for use as an unused mic pin.
Caution, there is circuitry connected to the FUNC input, so that must
remain isolated - in other words, if there is a jumper from FUNC to 5 on

Thanks for the advice everyone. Sean. I have only made the board. I have not

Mike,
It sounds like a bad solder connection somewhere.
Before you dig into the K3, try the mic directly on the K3. If all is
OK, then investigate the connector for the Duo to K3 cable.
If it persists with the mic connected directly to the K3, then it may be
a K3 problem.
Right now, there

I had this problem several months ago. It turns out the mic connector ground
