Was operating off Southwold on the beach Saturday and wind blown sand
got into my KX3 #1082... only solution was qrt and disassemble and clean
when got it home.
http://m1kta-qrp.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/southwold-2014.html
No lasting damage it would seem but took ages to get rid of all the sand
Maybe this will clear things up a little. And it seems 10 days from
yesterday was the more accurate figure:

Jim,
None that I know of, but the manual is straight-forward, just follow
through the assembly steps and you should not have a problem. If there
is something you do not understand, just ask on this reflector and you
are likely to get help quickly.

For those still waiting for, or building, their KXPA100, the effort

I haven't worked RTTY since 1982 or so and have a K3. I've read the
info here: http://www.elecraft.com/K3/k3_operating_tips.htm#RTTY and
then the section on RTTY operation without a computer. And the pages
suggested in the manual.
I still have some questions how best to set it up to work
I would like to see a two or four band HF ssb qrp radio. Or one that is
setup for digital only.
And one that you need to make with a soldering iron.

2KHz is getting a bit above my hearing range.
I wonder if there is a way to do low tone FSK-D @1275 Hz mark.
Not interested in AFSK.
I suppose the center frequency of the filter would have to be reset as
well as the dual tone filter.

Hi Brian,
Sure -- All you have to do is be in FSK-D mode, press hold the SPOT (pitch)
button. Use the main tuning knob to set the mark tone you want and exit out of
it. Works just fine and all the standard tones are available in the menu.

I just checked it to make sure it works.

Here is a interesting web site in development that will take your ADIF or
LoTW logs and create a world map with pins.
You can filter by band/mode, etc.

I've already made a suggestion on this topic, but here it is again:
But let me reply in general that a 6m-23cm (50-1296 MHz) all-mode
radio would be desirable in
100w output on the two lower bands and 50w on the rest. NO need for
lead weights once the heat sink is installed. It will be lots
Thanks to Jim, W0EB.
It's already in there.
Just change the pitch while in the FSK-D mode.
In N1MM, if you're using a DXP38 modem, it is simple to change the mark
setting to match.
Works! Now the audio signals are not attenuated by many dB.

oops, sorry
Just responding to the elecraft digest today where there were several
posts on this topic. Now I can't find that digest? I thought it
strange that someone started up the topic, again. Chalk it up to a
computer burp that an old digest was added as a new one, today.

Bill,
One thing you might want to check is your menu setting for VFO CRS (VFO
Coarse Tuning). You could set that to 500 Hz for SSB - it is a per band
setting.
That may not help with your request about the SPOT button, but it may be
a good substitute.

On 2/2/2014 4:30 PM,
Sorry about that - replace 'per band' with 'per mode' in the post below.
