By cutting power, you mean cutting back to low power for tuning right?

Phil;
How would you switch between the radios? Manual switch?
Be sure you also connect that you provide some method for cutting power on the
transmitter when the KAT is tuning. This is built into the K3/KPA setup, but
you also need to do it for the IC706.

I suppose the most direct and honest answer is “because I want to”. Actually,
the 706 is sort of my backup radio if I ever need a backup radio. And, I have

I would like to consider using my KAT500 tuner in a configuration switched

My normal configuration is a full K-Line:

This K-Line configuration is by the book full Elecraft

Are you "checking" with a constant CW carrier or voice?

Hi Stan,
I would use the latest "one-click" production firmware release (MCU 2.69/DSP
1.49). This corrects a DSP problem that in rare cases could result in the DSP
not sampling signals correctly.

Thanks, Bill. The KX2 doesn't actually have a "sub" receiver; if you
mean dual watch then no, it's rarely engaged unless I'm working split

Mike,
What is the proximity of the magnetic loop antenna to the K3?
I suspect RF feedback from the K3 being within the strong field of the
magnetic loop.
Try moving the loop further from the K3 or rotate it so the maximum RF
is not directed at the K3.
Yes, those RF problems can be present

Tnx Ian,
On 80 and 160M this past weekend had the filter bandwidth set at 200HZ most of
the time due to the QRN. The NR helped a little. Just trying to find out if
worth the money to buy the new 200 HZ filter if I would really know the
difference.

You can also put the USB key / ptt into Safe Mode. See the instructions
in MCU 5.33 release notes (or any release notes later than this rev).

Hmmm ... my original message was on 31 Oct -- Long Delay Echo?
Problem was the PTT-KEY setting -- PTT was set to DSR and it gets
asserted intermittently as the radio and computer USB port argue when
the radio comes on. Apparently the radio eventually wins because it
stops. OFF-OFF
The new filter has 6 poles and steeper sides than the older filter thet have

My guess is common-mode current on the feed line from RF picked up from the

In an rf-rich environment the rig itself becomes part of the antenna, so

I would try MCU 02.68 and DSP of 01.48 and see if that helps. If you have the

While on 20m I tuned the MFJ 1788 to the lowest SWR which was 1.2:1. I did this
using the tune button on the K3. I noticed the SWR on the K3 was bouncing
around from 1.2, 1.3, 1.7, 1.4 and so on and never settling on just one
reading. This only happens on 20m and no other band that I tuned on.
Yeah, I was afraid I might have to do that. Oh well, I guess I’ll go ahead and
drop Support a few lines and see what they advise. Thanks everyone for your

Hey Jim,
I'm late to the party, but just some words of advice:
- Make sure the station end is set up properly first. As noted before,
there are three UDP ports that need to be set up in port forwarding. You
don't have to use the ports RemoteRig recommends, but if you want to,
that's fine. If
Fred,
I never see that on remote. Only if I'm using N1MM for DTR CW keying and
booting a PC.
I exclusively use the USB cable for Radio Control and Winkey CW
Keying/RTTY. No issues with that.

Hi Keith,
No, the K3/0 sends remote commands to the K3 to control audio.
You DO NOT connect the RemoteRig box to the line out -- it goes from the
Speaker output to the SP plug on RemoteRig.
If you want local + remote audio, plug headphones in and turn on HDPH+SPKR
on the station K3.

Download the driver from Elecraft onto a thumb drive. Browse to the file

It sounds like you need to contact Elecraft support. You have
indications of a faulty KNB2 firmware IC.

There are several factors that make this technique insufficient to "measure"
your ears.
The K3 splits the incoming signal path and sends part of the signal to the P3
and part to the K3 receive circuitry. The split occurs just after the first
mixer so the P3 is sampling a wideband signal
