A few questions about scanning...
I would like to be able to scan and channel hop frequencies segments that
span several bands. It seems this is not allowed by the K3 using just the
buttons, but is it possible to do this via programming a macro using /MC/?
If so what is the optimal way to do it?
when trying this out.
In regards to the ESSB, I personally don't think using any amount of
compression sounds like a good idea, kind of defeats the purpose of ESSB,
no?

catering primarily to CW ops, hence my comments. One could think of it as a

Insofar as using the ESSB, never even considered that. Might be fun to play
around with that too.

Hi,
The Gamma is my primary PS on my K3 (don't own a K2). Never had a problem
with it since I've been using it almost a year now. That being said, you
have to understand its limitations: SSB, it's great and gets out 100w; AM,
reduce power down to 70w-80w; Digital modes some high speed CW can
This blocked tx freq. range is normal. 8 MHz is used for the IF, so
transmitting there'abouts would probably not be a good idea for the K3.
It's written down somewhere, I just can't recall where...

The KUSB USB to RS-232 cables are uniquely designed and built to convey the
true natural beauty of the original data transfer stream with see-through
transparency and life-like, holographic imaging.
With the KUSB we start with a true Hyperlitz design using silver-plated

Seriously though,
I think most of us ordered the KUSB out of convenience of not having to
search out a USB to RS232 cable - it is not something everybody carries,
rather than having to call and drive around looking for one.
I know if I went to order a $10.00 cable, it would have cost me another
The cable it seems does have a special feature as was kindly pointed out to
me, heck what do I know I just included it when I ordered my K3.
Apparently it has the correct gender of connecting screws, and will fasten
directly on to the K3's back panel DE-9 connector. Other USB to Serial

told me my audio sounded bad so i guess it
sounds good. What more could i ask.. BC quality? NOT!

I just went ahead and included an Elecraft mic with my K3 order. I took it
apart and put it in a T-17-B housing for that vintage look. Sounds great
too.

I use the FM filter also for AM among other things. For easier configuration
use, use the the K3 Utility application to set your filters. Works great
and you will see exactly what your set-up is. Also, you can backup your K3
configuration here too.

Hi,
I have the 1 ppm xtal and want to do the #3 callibration option. I've read
the book and checked what I was doing several times. I also have the latest
firmware (3.27 beta) installed. I keep pushing 1 and I don't get the REF
xxCAL, it just doesn't seem to be an option.
What am I missing?
Thanks.
I'm 2 for 2 now. Where did I miss that?
Ok folks, nothing to see here. Move along...

Hi,
The other day I was tuning up on 20M (14.220Mhz thereabouts) and noticed my
SWR on the K3 was at 5.3. When I put up the antenna, it was tuned to a less
than 2.0 SWR. Accounting for wear and tear over time I thought it might have
slipped a little, so I re-tuned the antenna back to 2.0 SWR.
Grr...
I completely disassembled the antenna, cleaned and re-aligned/re-tuned it on
all bands. I'm getting 1.5 on 20M now and 1.2 to 2.8 on the rest. The K3 ATU
will match down to 5.2 on 20M now. Unless I figure out why this is, I'll
have to go back to my manual tuner and SWR analyzer, not a
set the radio to ANT 2 instead of ANT 1.
I did not discover this until I decided to re-read the section on the ATU
operation and go step-by-step and see if I missed something. I also received
a few emails detailing similar goofs, so I am not alone on this one.
