and for as long as I like and
nothing bad happens. Rig indicates a low and stable SWR putting out 100W.
This seems to suggest something related to the K3. Has anyone else
experienced this?

Yes!
I don't use the K3 internal keyer for exactly that reason.

The K3 built-in keyer is very good as it is, but I miss the

I do, all the time. I would be surprised if I was the only K3 owner
that does.

I mean, who uses the built in speaker anyway.

I find the K3 very noisy and fatiguing in comparison to any of the
other rigs I have when tuning around a relatively quite band. I Rarely

Was the root cause for the reported audio blasts found?

Hi all,
We're getting very close to a long-awaited K3 beta firmware release.
Since the changes are extensive, we'd like to send the code to a new
group of pre-testers in addition to our usual field-test group.

Will this be optional?
Personally I don't want it. I have impaired hearing and bass response
seriously degrades intelligibility for me.
Bryan, Zl1NI
The next K3 beta firmware release will include dramatically better
bass response in receive mode (50-200 Hz). The result is fuller,
richer
Thanks for all the helpful responses to this.
I am running Rev. 2.78 here. It is good to know, given the way I
operate, there will be no difference should I upgrade to an official
release in the future that has the better bass response.
Bryan, Zl1NI
Will this be optional?
Personally I don't
Does anyone know of a Dummies Guide to Panadaptors that covers:
What is a Panadaptor?
What is it used for?
Why a ham might want one?

I have the 1.5FX, indeed an excellent companion to the K3, and the
physical interface is made to measure.
Bryan, Zl1NI
With the exception of 6m, you have essentially that capability
available in

Thanks Don.
The only calibration I did for the W1 was the procedure in the manual.
Bryan, Zl1NI
Brian,
Unless you used a very accurate wattmeter to calibrate the W1, I
would
believe the DL1.
HOWEVER: The formula in the DL1 manual is not correct. 8.97 volts

Has anyone found a practical way to secure the Powerpole connection to
the K3? I manage to dislodge mine all too frequently.

Using Heil ProSet here and very satisfied with the K3's audio for
communications use.
Bryan, Zl1NI
On the other hand, plug a Heil ProSet with its 200 Ohm elements
into an unmodified K3 and the -3dB point is 80 Hz ... low enough
for communications use without being overly sensitive to hum
