Off center feeding of a dipole antenna greatly enhances feed line radiation
which most often causes a new set of problems. This is why you usually see
the Windom style type antennas having to use some form of a line isolator in
the feed line. It's much simpler to stay with center feeding

Kurt:
Feed the same antenna with either 300 twin lead or 450 Ohm ladder line.
Connect a 4 to 1 balun at the shack end of the feed line, then connect the
other
end of the balun to the output terminal of the tuner. It will then tune and
radiate RF quite well!

I have built (2) K2's and (2) K1's all with Radio Shack brand solder. No
problems at all and they all worked the first time they were fired up!

Just ignore the negative comments on the reflector. If you enjoy building
the Elecraft gear then good for you. It gives you something to do plus
provides you will a few extra bucks. Besides your providing a valuable
service for
some of the hams. Not everyone has time to build
It would certainly be nice if Elecraft would offer an option to build up the
4-band filter board into a simple 3 band filter board, covering 80 / 40 / 30
meters. There are some who would be very interested in that.

Selling one of my personal built K2’s that I built about 7 months ago using
all pre-wound toroids supplied by AA3WF. It is very neatly built, and was this
past winters project. It worked great as soon as it was completed and no
troubleshooting was required!

I have just completed the assembly of a KAT1 internal auto tuner for my K1.
Everything seems fine so far but I must say I am somewhat unclear how to
properly adjust R2. The manual gives no instructions on the proper setting of
R2

Has anyone ever checked and graphed the cold start to warm-up drift of their
K1 over say a 6 hour period? Im just wondering what other K1 owners have
experienced.
