A few weeks back I wrote that I was experiencing a most unusual noise
problem. I had hoped that someone else might have had the same problem and
would
have the answer. This didn't happen.
The noise was noticeable when the volume control and RF Gain were at minimum
and even the antenna
I have just recently re-subscribed to the reflector. So I have no knowledge
of what may have been said regarding the two reference diodes, D 16,D17 in
the K2/100 and D1,D2 in the KAT100.
After building and using my basic K2 back in 2000, I decided to upgrade to
the K2/100 and the KAT100.

I have been reading about the different microphones used by fellow K2 owners.
A fellow ham encouraged me to try a vantage, (1960s) D-104 crystal mic for
the K2. I had been using a Kenwood MC-48B and it was working OK. I knew that
the straight D-104 mic would not work with the K2 as crystal
