You should not have had any trouble with a center fed dipole, Dan. The issue
with the KX1 ATU, as with any ATU, is impedance extremes. Because of the
limited number of inductors and capacitors that could be fitted into the
tiny space
line bypassing a
tuner with the correct lengths.I added two feet of feedline and it
loaded right up sweet as pie. I also should have realized it wasn't a
shorted feedline as it still took some power and signal strengths

Help:
, but without the pain.
The rest of the story? I etched my *second* printed circuit board just a few
years ago, and (believe me) I used a glass container. That worked better!

It really was nice to hear all the SKN activity.
I made seven QSOs, all on 40m, with a WWII-vintage J-45 (a J-37 key
mounted on a leg clamp). Boy, that leg clamp is tight. Guys back in
the 30s and 40s must have had small legs, is all I can say. :)

Move it away from the power supply. The K2 is sensitive to magnetic fields.

Using OP1 for CW in FL1 position DOES use the SSB adapter for transmit,
IIRC. If you want the wide listening filter, set FL2 to OP1, and transmit
through the CW filter. Of course I may be wrongg.

Jean-Francois,
If I recall, that statement in the SSB manual does not say
Don't forget to consider a second K2. You won't be dissappointed.
Dan / WG4S / K2 #2456
ps: Seriously, you don't memtion WHY you want another rig. Other bands?
General Coverage? Larger knobs?

I would like to know of other list members personal experiences
comparing the K2 receiver

Auto Detection. But this isn't what you want. You want INPUT = HAND.

Does anyone know how to disable the auto keyer in the K2? I want to use
the Idiom Press CMOS 4 keyer and feed the K2 via the key jack in the rear.

I've been thinking about what kind of antenna
This is a joke, right? I didn't see the g.

I got a peek at the SKN 2007 rules. Electronic keyers are OK, but no
keyboards. In 2008, all SKN exchanges will have to be handled via Winlink
and confirmed via LOTW.
SKN is for straight keys.

Oh yes, Firewire is just another networking tool. Parallel, Ethernet,
Serial, USB, Firewire. They all do the same thing, but at different speeds.
Firewire is slang for IEEE 1394 and runs about 400 Mbps. It used to be 4
times the speed
. The K2
SWR meter will normally read the SWR between the Radio and the Tuner. Your
external meters will read the SWR between the Tuner and the Antenna.
There may be nothing wrong at all.

You might want to adjust the KPA100's R26 and R27 to agree with your
external
Diode.
