Engineering trade offs are so interesting.
Unfortunately the K3 notch works outside of the AGC loop. However everything
else about the K3 sounds brilliant and natural using Lyle's IF DSP in all modes.
The FT2000 has it's manual NOTCH inside the AGC loop, kudos on that, but the IF
DSP receiver

For K3: I have never had such a nicely balanced knob on such a silky smooth
encoder.
Collins, yeah, I can see some advantages to the extra weight. That having been

front-loader (made by Whirlpool, I think) and I hear the RFI on my radio and I

Sending a string of DITS using an external keyer, and in QSK mode, I can hear
receiver noise between the dits until about 19 WPM.
At that point the receiver is muted, so 20wpm or greater on my radio as it
sits, there is no QSK. :-(
Is there a firmware adjustment that will improve this?

Just took this photo of K3 #272.
The smaller VFO B knob is because there is no subrx in this rig. There is more
finger room around it.
The large knob is set to low friction, requires only a light touch
anywhere on the spinner.

playing with the AGC settings, particularly the THR and SLP settings, which
can be customized to suit your operating conditions. Also, turning off the
AGC and riding the RF gain can really help pull out very weak signals.

I suggest you first try giving the TMP cable connectors a slight
loaded old versions of
the firmware but no improvement was noted.
I have emailed my request to k3supp...@elecraft.com, but want to post this to
the list - anyone seen their K3 with these symptoms?

I did upgrades today for early K3 #272.
I considered these necessary:
12v sense PA
REMIO UPGD RS232 isolation
and AFOPMDKT speaker short circuit protection.
I also ordered a new top cover to match the beautiful textured
top cover Elecraft is sending with new K3s. The sides and bottom
seem the
I stand corrected on the price of the cabinet parts, the reason the side panels
were more expensive was I ordered two of them. ;-)
Top Panel $37.40 - expensive yet IMO worth it based on the change of finish.
Side Panel $31.40 - not any change that I can see and even if there was, a
trifle

FM audio does max at 2.8 khz, which is sufficient, the equalizer is mode
