Deni, I use Win 10 and prefer it. Win 10 is more stable and uses less memory then Win 7. You can install the FREE Classic Shell (see: http://www.classicshell.net/ ) to have the same program start menu setup as Win 7 on the Win 10 system. I don't use or like the Metro interface. Gordon

Jerry, An I7 is more than enough processor. You will want a video card that can driver at least 2 monitors. You should consider adding real RS232 ports, at least 2 or 4 if you will ever run two radios, and even more if you want to control rotors, amps (KPA-500) or other accessories.

All, I found the problem. My serial cable had a broken wire on pin 2. I had used the serial cable on my KPA-500 and it was working. Must have broken when I removed it from the system and used it to test the KRC2. Thanks for all the pointers and help! Murphy is so busy at my QTH,
