I built my K1 when it was still possible to get the 4-band module which for me,
covers 40, 30, 20 & 15. As I would like to have 80m also to work my Norwegian
hams, I built a 2-band board with 80 & 20. 20m is a band that's normally always
open some part of the day and a band you can use for dx,
Me too. In find that the "NEW QSK" is the same as the "OLD QSK" with a slight
delay. It's better to turn down the RF gain if you get too much "popping" sound
in your audio.

Hi Glen.
I've had this probleme several times and what I have to do (or at least do) is
to disconnect the radio from the PC. After that it normally works. Maybe you
have to switch the radio off/on. When everything works again, you can connect
to the PC.

Hi.
Well, I for one use mode B and have always done so. Probably because my first
keyer only had mode B and secondly because I wanted to use the squeeze
tchnique, as I thought that was the ultimate way to send morse code. I have no
problems with mode B, but cannot use mode A without a lot of
The KFL1-4 band filter module does not cover the 80m. only 40, 30, 20, 17/15.
If you need the 80m you also need a 2 band module.

Hi.
I've also had this problem a couple of times. If you have the KX3 connected to
a computer - disconnect. I think that solved the problem for me. You can
connect to the computer again when the KXPA100 is up and running.

Hi Jim.
Have a look at this page http://homepage.ntlworld.com/lapthorn/k1.htm. At the
bottom you will find two links to sites decribing som mods made by others than
Elecraft. Mods made by Elecraft (if there are any), you will probably find on
the official Elecraft site.

Disconnect the amp and computer from the KX3. Switch the KX3 on and off.
Reconnect the amp and switch on the KX3. This worked for me. You might check
the menu key PA Mode to see if it's on.

I have noticed something similar, but that has nothing to do with the KXPA100.
Whe I switch on NR, the audio is muted. Pushing the PBT button to get NORM
bandwith gets the audio back, but if I try to change the bandwith it is muted
again. Strange. Without NR on there is no such strange
Yes, this is a known issue. Try to turn down the AF gain when keying. That will

According to the manual the K1 will deliver around 5W at 14V (varies between
bands), and the current draw is around 55mW (without display backlight). It can
be operated on a voltage between 8.5 - 15V.

I've had the same problem with my K1. It turned out to be a bad crystal, so my
suggestion is to get another crystal for the 15m band.
