Hello,
Has anyone ever successfully used these CAT commands with WriteLog? I'm
trying to minimize the amount of times I have to reach for the M1 button by
using a function key on the keyboard.

We (Sussex County ARC W2LV) in NW NJ ran a 5A operation and had a couple of
K3's on hand. We thought conditions were flat on Saturday but a little
better on Sunday. We were well protected under a large circus tent with
perimeter tarps from the wind and the rain. The cold (low 50's) was the
I do a lot of VHF contesting in June and September and find 222 a great band
that propagates very nicely. It's quieter than 2M during a contest allowing
us to work weaker signals than we would be able to on 2M. We have worked
well into the mid-west using Tropo but unfortunately the activity

In my opinion, no.
The satellite days are over until AMSAT and the government can work out
their ITAR differences. I don't have any desire to invest in any equipment
for FM satellites.
For VHF/UHF contesting transverters are the operational choice. That said a
10M radio specifically designed
The lower the frequency the harder it is and I found standing the antenna up
on end didn't work well either.
What I do especially at the lower bands is put the antenna up in the air
around 10 to 12 feet and adjust it to just below the bottom of the band.
For example for 40M I would tune for

The TX EQ in my opinion is subjective. Some like it, some don't

I used my K3 as the 15M CW/SSB, 80M PSK and 20M PSK station for FD. It was
worked hard and ran flawlessly. I had the K3's PA temperature up to 50C for
long periods of time without an issue. We had over 2100 QSO's.

Hello all,
For the KXV3 transverter ports to be operational, should the KXV command be
set to test instead of normal? The BNC I/O ports don't seem to work
unless it's put into test mode.
Comments appreciated.

It doesn't look like a scam to me either. The buy-it-now price is $2500
bucks which means to me he needs cash quickly.

Well S/N 5033 played very well at the W2LV 3A FD effort this past weekend.
It was used primarily on 15M with a short stint on 80M.Everyone at the
FD site was very impressed with the K3 and its neighbor the P3. The only
issue I noticed was the FD message I recorded on the KDVR3 Digital Voice
John you weren't hearing things, I heard the same strong tone. I was able
to notch it out but it was bad nonetheless.

OK guys I've tried everything to no avail. The DM780 demodulates CW, PSK,
etc fine and I can get the frequency readout and all the K3 button are
displayed
on DM780 but I just can't get the Keyboard CW to work. I did program
the M1-M4 memories on the K3 and was able to activate them from DM780.
Yes, I have the radio in CW mode.
