I have a Heil headset that I have been using with my TenTec Jupiter. I want
to use it with my K2. My K2 is set up for the Elecraft MH2 microphone. Can
I simply order a Kenwood adapter for use with the Heil to interface with the
K2?

In order to transmit PSK31 on the K2 do I have to have the RS232 adaptor? I
am receiving the signals via the earphone output but now I want to transmit
also! Always something…grin

Hey Mike:
I would love to get the PDF with the info. This sounds exactly like what
I am looking for.
Thanks!

Thanks to all who responded to my question about a portable antenna for
use with camping. I received to many responses to reply to each one
individually...but THANKS for a lot of great ideas. There are a couple
that I will be mulling over.

When keying up my K2 in SSB at 10 watts I get a momentary flash of high
current. Is this a sign of a problem? Seems like there is a setting in the
menu in regards to this, but want to be sure before I do anything. The
transmit is fine, just the momentary flash of high current.
Thanks!
While I await my K3 (sometime in June) I would like to construct a good
portable antennae to use while camping (RV camping). If it is a dipole it
will need to be short enough to fit in the footprint of a campsite. Any
recommendations.maybe even for a vertical?

I am very interested in the K3 for use as a portable rig while camping. Have
any of you new owners taken the K3 outside and operated portable on battery
power? If so, what were you impressions?
Additionally, if I build the 100W model, I can operate at QRP levels on
battery with no issues?
Hey Lee:
Is this slide show available on the net for download/view?
Thanks!

Thanks Bob appreciate the comments.
Thanks goes to Scott WU2X for taking the the cool shots of me building.
Finished the build about 11:30pm and we played till about 2 AM :)
Ok...ok...do you remember the time you said no that you would not do
something and then you eat your words and do so? Well, when the first words
about the K3 hit the list and I was the price I said nope, not me...to much
money. Well...the order has been placed for the QRP K3 and ATU! I KNEW that
I am looking at upgrading my K2 to a K2-100. If I do, will I have to
remove the internal ATU or battery pack? If I can leave the battery
pack, will it charge while operating off of a 20amp supply for the
100? I want to leave the internal ATU for field operations at QRP
Just pulled my KX1 out of the moth balls and powered it up. Upon being
powered up it starts transmiting without a key hooked to it. Was working
great
last time that I used it. I have checked for bad solder joints and loose
connections. Have tried it without the ATU installed with same luck.
Well.it is hard to believe but K2 #4686 is alive and well! For some
two to three years I had dreamed of building a K2, but for lack of funds
and fear of failure I kept putting it off. Finally, the itch got to be
to much for me. So, back in February I called Lisa and placed my order.
Except
Well, with my head hanging low and a sheepish look on my face...I can
report that I have completed Phase II Testing with success! I had asked for
some assistance yesterday with signal tracing in order to find where the
signal was being lost. After reading some replys, *trying* to read and
I am in section II alignment of my K2. I am not getting a signal from my
antenna jack to the output. I am using Tom Hammond's method of signal
tracing
using the lead of a capacitor attached to a clip that is attached to an
antenna. I have a signal when injected at the following test points;
Do I remember correctly that there is/was a free use version of
Spectrogram for aligning the K2? If so, where can I download the program?

Thanks guys for all of the quick responses in regard to the free version
of Spectrogram. In case others are interested, it can be found on Tom
Hammond's /N0SS) website at http://www.n0ss.net/

Hey John:
I had a similar problem with my KX1. It ended up being a bad solder
joint on a resistor pack. I cannot remember which one, but if you look
at the schematic
you will be able to locate it. After applying a little heat to the joint
all was OK. Hope this helps in some way.

Thanks to each who sent me a suggestion for a portable vertical antenna for use
while camping. I now have several options to choose from.
