All,
First use of AX1 today in New York’s Adirondack Mountains. KX3, CW, 20M and <
10W. Special event station LZ497OM, Bulgaria, about 5K miles.
Pretty amazing given the fact the station was work numerous NA and Europe
stations. Now that’s serious fun!
Happy operating.

History is replete with examples of companies that refused, at their own peril,
to embrace emerging technologies. This stubbornness, I suspect, was born out
of a sense of technological arrogance.
In the early 1970s, the Swiss watch industry, enamored with their mechanical
movements, refused
Prefer the W4OP loop due to ruggedness and remote tune feature. Yes, its
heavier but how many of us actually hike to the top of a big mountain?
What would be great, however, would be a mag loop that the KX2 or KX3 could
remotely tuned from the rig. I’d pay for that ...

I agree. I bought a small item on the “old” website and the shipping to NY was
about $4. I tried to purchase the same item on the new website and the lowest
shipping was over $17 (for a $20+ item).; I didn’t buy it. I recently
purchased a KXPD3 and the shipping was the same $17+. Same with an

I have the same issue; mine is off about 50Hz. Not a huge deal but just enough
to be annoying on VHF SSB and CW. I do have the REFLOCK, EXTREF (10MHz GPSDO)
and KTCXO-1; nothing left to add. You are correct that you can’t adjust the
offset once you’re in this configuration. As I say,

Same thing here with my KX3.

Hi all,
I have the infamous red blinking LED situation and can’t power up the K3S. I
simply opened the K3 utility and “badness” happened.
Anyhow, I tried the prescribed restart of disconnect power source, reboot
computer and holder power button for min 10 seconds. No success. Any other
Recently purchased a K-pod for my earlier vintage K3s kit. I read about the
mod necessary to power up the K-Pod via the data connector. I eagerly removed
the front panel and identified R82. I carefully removed the chip resistor
(tiny) and considered how I’d mount it on top of R82 and solder

Elecraft faithful,
Any guidance with trouble shooting a KPA500 / K3 issue would be helpful.
Problem: KPA500, primarily in SSB, “redlines” (600W+ LED) after a few seconds
of transmission / speech. This seems to be independent of band. With the KPA
in standby, the K3 output power holds rock

I had to send my KPA500 (including transformer) back to Elecraft from NY. My
KPA500 was a kit so, like you, I had to figure out the best packaging. The
KPA500 is much heavier than the K3s, so if you package as has been recommended

Kevin,
Yes. had the problem. Crazy loud hum / buzz. Bad transformer I was told.
All quiet on the eastern front now. If it is a bad transformer it can be fixed
but you’ll have to eat the shipping charge.

Bruce,
You'll get a ton of responses and most will be, "don't spend a lot"; most mics
work fine with the K3's EQ. I do agree with Nate. I use a Kenwood 60A (keep
preamp off) and do quite well. There are potential issues with RF, but the fix
is pretty easy. Because there has been a bad

Thanks, Ron. Did all suggested and ensured every screw and bolt tightened.
Reseated transformer and really tightened down. Unfortunately, same hum on CW;
even with less than 10W drive.
Back to the drawing board.
Thank you,

Hi all,
Finished assembly of KPA500 and a little surprised at the magnitude of hum /
buzz during CW (no real issue on SSB); I've read about it but was surprised at
just how pronounced it is. I could use the KPA500 as a code oscillator for
practice; no need to keep monitor turned on. I've
Who do we think makes the DX Engineering connectors that are so loved? DX
doesn't manufacture them; they are private labeled by another manufacturer.
Wouldn't it be ironic if it was Amphenol? Hi Hi.

Get yourself a good pair of pointed tweezers. They will help your sanity as you
pick various size screws from whatever multi compartment carrier you segment
them the into.
Good luck n enjoy.

I have the same issue pre and post REFLOCK installation. My software is up to
date.
I'm still trying to troubleshoot it.

Smart move not installing the sub receiver. It's a very tight fit and once in
successfully you'll never want to remove it again. Ever.
