Hello all!
I have read the many comments upon the noisy K3 receiver with interest. I,
too, have always thought the K3 somewhat noisy, but that is in comparison to
the other receivers I have. The best sound from a modern receiver to me has
been from the Ten Tec OMNI VII. When I place the RF

On the right front display of the K3, there is a small symbol (-S)

Guys and Gals of the K3 ilk,
I am interested in setting up my K3 to run off of solar power but know
very little about what it will take. I assume a battery and a
controller/charger but what size battery would work best for operation
up to 10 watts, and what would work best up to 100 watts
This is an excellent idea! Why not make a collection of settings
which emulate various legacy radios? Then, whenever you miss the old
radios, simply go and look up the settings for the radio you want, and
presto! You are back in nostalgia land! Then you can come back to
the K3 domain
Hey guys gals,
This is just to let everyone know the caliber of hams which frequent
this list-serve. I recently purchased some equipment from Phil

did it arrive at my QTH quickly, and was better than advertised, but
Hello fellow Elecrafters.
I have a question about which my curiosity is just getting the best of
me. When I have the Sub Receiver on, linked, and all parameters the
same between the two receivers, and I have the Balance control set in
the middle, and then tune quickly across the band,
James,
I, too, have noticed what I believe you are noticing. It seems to me
that the jumps in the tracking of VFO A and VFO B occur at the
transitions of the bandpass filters. It is as if when the bandpass
relays switch, the VFOs lose their synchronization. (Of course, I
could be wrong,
Looks like I may not be sticking to my explanation after all. Try
this and see what you get:
WITHOUT the SUB Receiver linked, tune the main receiver to 6.000.000
MHz. Be sure you can see the frequency of the Sub Receiver on VFO B
area and the tuning rate is FINE.

I received my KRX3 two weeks ago, and, after much difficulty, have

I have been a lurker on this and other reflectors, and after much
deliberation, have plunged in to order a K3. I really needed to wait
until I could afford it, but then I told myself, if I continued to
wait, I would lose out on the enjoyment of the radio. The members on
