The posts on this topic mention an isolation transformer to
separate the computer from the PSK audio line. So I might have
missed the boat a little when I decided to ground the computer
chassis/case to the common equipment ground. That is, I have a ground
rod with a wire coming up to a copper

Elecraft mailman,
A few minutes after I posted, via your email address, a reply to a
news group topic I received the following email. Note that my post
hasn't yet appeared in the newsgroup list - so I'm guessing this came
directly from something between me and you. I translated the Dutch

This drift is discussed in the ReadMe file of one of the PSK
programs (WinPSK, MixW, TrueTTY, etc.). If both have snap and/or AFC
and the sound cards are off a little, then one slowing creeps up
the band as each station adjusts to the other.

From time to time someone mentions the new heat sink back panel for
the K2. I haven't seen a picture of it on the web site or item listed
in Options. I've suggested that Elecraft make a PSK friendly back
panel - with holes for Line In/Out or one hole for a 5 pin DIN plug
to handle those I/O.
Lee,
If you search for Elecraft on eBay you'll see a person offering (a
regular item), a kit that consists of two binding posts connected
to a BNC for easy connection of long wire to the K2. The kit also
includes wire for an antenna and counterpoise, plus a large Hex Nut
and line to toss over
But he has to operate within the Canadian band plan - right? Just to
make a point - not to whine - I often hear Canadian SSB on top of the
7.070 PSK frequency.

Though I didn't work a polar bear, I had an enjoyable time listening
for them and learned a lot.
I will now really honor those QRP frequencies. It was very
frustrating when power stations would QSO with each other nearby
or right on top. I was concerned about my high power (50-75 watts)
when we reach 70 he says that us guys still chase women, but we'll
only chase 'em downhill.
Problem is, short term memory is the first to go - and you have that
name remembering thing in the morning.

Mike,
I bought the K2 used and it came with an Heil hand mike.
While reviewing the BUXCOMM site for other options, I saw they had a
cable for SCG and Ten Tec gear but not Elecraft. I now understand
that's probably because there are various ways to configure the mic
connector and Elecraft
If you are using the K2 with the RASCAL interface for PSK, which
cable did you order with the RASCAL. Thanks.

There was a discussion about this just recently in the BrassPounders
news group on Yahoo. The attractiveness of Ultimatic is not its
effeciency - it is attractive to a number of cw operators because of
its ineffeciency! That is, its forgiving coordination requirements.

Another, or an again way of saying what has been said is:
You are assuming that the K2 sees the Bencher and computer keying as
the same. If that were the case, they would bethe same.

Although more and more my rigs are controlled by software, I still
like to tune that knob a bit. But the more I'm around other rigs, the
less satisfied I am with the stock K2 tuning knob
