Well I have been sending CW for 70 years now. I am not the most accomplished
Morse operator you will copy. But I wonder why someone would think it is
improper procedure to move your wrist ? I have watched musicians play guitars
and bass instruments. They all move their wrists. I am not a

operate contests.

The electrical pulses from your ear to your brain travel at extremely fast
speed.
The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282 miles a second ; about 670,616,629
mph.
My point ? At QRQ CW speeds something occurs that you normally do not encounter
at slower speeds. Look at a dictionary. Many
If you are somewhat familiar with some text convert it to CW. It will assist
you in copying since you will be familiar with the text. Believe me it can
help. It does for me.

Everyone has an opinion on how to learn Morse Code. My skill with CW probably
comes from longevity. Closing in on 70 years of using Morse Code. Certainly
mostly hit and miss. I once wrote here that I could copy quite fast. Then the

I started my journey by learning Morse Code in 1950 at the age of 12. I am

Human Nature : people hear & read what they want to hear. Having participated
in contests for over 65 years I have had some experience.
I never wrote or suggested here that it would be prudent to operate at QRQ
speeds. I used some hyperbole to demonstrate that speed Is part of the
efficiency
I got an opportunity to use my K2 this weekend. CW Contests stir up a lot of
CW activity. Excellent CW operating on display in the CW SS. I no longer
compete. So the reason I get on is to look for FRIENDS.
When you do what I did today narrow filtering is detrimental to my goal. Work

Some prefer the challenge of isolating a CW signal in order to decode it. They
use filtering. Eliminating interference is difficult. Interference comes from
numerous sources.
An exchange of call signs is the desired result in a pile up or contest
exchange.

I have to laugh at those that comment about sloppy bug sending. Looking
them up on QRZ dot COM I see they are younger folks. I have used a bug for
almost 60 years.
A good CW operator is one who can copy code despite the accent. There

The humming of the transformer in the KPA 500 is somewhat analogous to the
SWR indicator on the KPA500 showing yellow leds. The external antenna has a
lot to do with the SWR. The primary's ac voltage and frequency (hz) has
the same type of external affect on the transformer's humming. To

I ordered a K3 last week. I built my K2 about 8 years ago and operate it daily.
I also have a Ten Tec Omni 6+ and a Hercules II amplifier. I enjoy the Ten Tec
transceiver and amplifier when used in contests and chasing DX. The purpose of
this email is to solicit (direct and reflector) input
thanks for some good information about my K2 and options. Time to unsubscribe.

I am trying to make a decision on which enclosure when ordering the 100 watt

The MFJ and Alinco look nice too me. MFJ always seems to have a stigma about

problems in the ham bands.
