I had a cat that loved to sleep on top of my K2, while looking out the
window. I have photos.

I thought about VOX Bill and it is a good suggestion for minimizing the
clutter. However, I usually have a 2m HT on in the background to catch
local summit-to-summit contacts, so that pretty much kills that idea.
Besides VOX has always kinda scared me given the potential for unwanted TX.

When I had my radio set up about 20 feet from the kitchen, I used a foot switch
so my replies to my wife didn’t go out over the air. When I moved to New
Hampshire and my shack moved into an isolated room, I started using VOX, which
works very well on my K3.
VOX definitely eliminates one piece
Just a couple more comments on the Antion ModMic:
I plug into the rear mic jack on my K3 and the front jack of the KX3
using an adapter cable.

i Normally use my Heil HM10 desk mic and ancient Sony MDR-V600 headphones.

it. I returned it and got a new Yamaha CM-500 headset.

I like the Koss SB-45 (3.5mm plug version, not USB). It sounds great,

Looks like a well thought out design, except for the focus on impedance

Impedance matching is primarily a transmission lines concept. Standard
practice has long been low-Z source and high-Z input impedance. :)

I’ve always favored very light headsets and CM500 are a perfect compromise for
lightweight but decent sound isolation. I used to use super cheap-o
featherweight computer sets which frankly work totally fine, but they set on

Most any analog (not USB) computer gaming headset will actually work well
on the K3. You specifically mentioned that you want to plug into the front

easily build one, but the ones from Heil will work with any headset
