Most any wire you put up can be made to radiate. The problem is matching the feedpoint to the feedline. If you want to use coax for the feedline, you must provide a proper matching network at the antenna (balun or otherwise). Open wire line can be used with a matching network in the shack.

Comment on what? Other than his statement about the audio he doesn't say anything about why he rates one rig over another, so how would it be possible to judge? And if he doesn't like the transmit audio on the K3 with all of the tailoring it allows, it's pretty obvious he doesn't know how
