Earl,
Did the same here.
It's an easy job, if you take it step by step. Don't be in a hurry.

Hi All, I just received my K3DSPUPGD board. My K3 (#3223) is a Factory built
unit. Therefore I have no experience at dismantaling and re-assembing the
radio. I have an Anti-Static Mat and Wristband and the Elecraft instructions
seem to be very clear. I did follow the recent thread about
The upgrade is pretty simple. The hardest part is mating the front
panel back up with all the pins. Apparently I managed to bend a pin
under a connector which was causing my odd headphone jack readings and
other noisy issues with the radio. Take your time and go slow.

Hint: Prop mirrors so you can see the ends of both 0.1 DIP
connectors off to the R and L sides of the K3. Some little 2 compact
mirrors work for this, so ask your XYL for used compacts if anyone
still actually uses them.
You can see both connectors, then you'll at least get the outside end
pins
Many thanks to Dave, Harry, Mike MU, Mike MK, Mark and Matt for the
information.
Everyone agrees that I should pay very close attention when re-mounting the
Front Panel.
Also to clean the pins before re-assembly. I have had no problem with bad
connections but will be sure to dress them up
Greetings to the list. I recently purchased a K3, serial number in the late
800's. I absolutely love the radio so far. My question is, is the DSP
performance really improved with the new board when you factor the cost?

Hunter,
The DSP performance is unchanged with the new DSP board. The only thing
that changes is the audio response - extended low frequency response and
the addition of a Low Pass audio filter. The audio path is on the DSP
board, but has nothing to do with the DSP itself.

Anyone done this yet and what do you think?
K3DSPUPGDSwap out upgrade of your Pre-Rev C DSP boards to a DSP board
modified to Rev C. Ships beginning approximately 11/16/2009. Note: your old
K3 DSP board must be returned within 2-3 weeks of receipt of the upgrade to
avoid being charged
John -
The website says the approx. date for beginning to ship the Rev C board
was *May 1st, 2009.

I'm thinking of getting the KDSP2. I already have a
KAF2, but am looking at playing with DSP, as a bit of
a technical challenge. Am I right in thinking that
the DSP board is the DSPx used in the DSP 10 2m
software defined radio? Also, how easy is it to swap
out the DSP board to use it in a DSP
Hello Dave!

The DSPx module used in the KDSP2 accessory may use the ADSP-2184N or
the ADSP-2185N DSP chip. The -2184 has less memory than the -2185, but
has more than enough for the
