Take it and don't worry. Be prepared to power it (if it is battery powered) as you go through security if you carry it on the plane. They may ask a few questions about it... many times simply out of curiosity. Checking it via luggage may cause it to get an extra check but you won't know

This is a little old from your post, but they are very active [4-digit serial numbers] in the WPX RTTY on all the contest bands. I worked them on 40 around 1200Z 13 Feb. They were on about 7088, QSX 7097-7100. Almost S9 in N. Cal on a not-so-special sloping Vee. Answered on the 2nd call.

A couple more tips: They have been running very big splits at times, and tend to move around a lot rather than sitting on one frequency. I had the most luck by calling a couple hundred Hz above or below their last contact. If you have a P3, you will find it to be quite beneficial in this
