Keith,
Check your audio, you should be driving the audio so you have 4 bars
illuminated with the 5th bar flickering on the K3S ALC meter.
If you are operating in USB mode, I suggest you change to DATA A data
submode. That will automatically set compression off and the
equalization to flat.
Merry new year to all.
I am having trouble operating HRD psk31 to my K3s.
I can set it up to receive via the K3s usb no problem. The tx is produced

I have tried all the settings in the manual.

Be aware that You operate CW on the K3 and KX3 using an app called K3iNetwork
made by Mike KS7D. I have used it extensively over the last 18 months. Right

the touch screen as a touch paddle. It still not working too
I have been configuring HRD with my KX3 and wondering if anyone else has

I can get HRD to copy and send PSK31 and RTTY with the KX3 in Data A (rev)
mode. Although I can copy CW, HRD will not key the KX3 for CW
I have tried multiple setting in the KX3 and HRD.

not sure if the KX3 has a 'KEY CW' command on the serial port, but
if it doesn't have that then it may be that there's no way to send a
key up/down command to the radio...

The KX3 can be keyed using the KY command, but I do not think HRD/DM780
implements that command - few applications do.
The easiest solution is to use the K1EL Winkeyer.
HRD/DM780 can also send CW using a serial port

I am having trouble with the new Ham Radio Deluxe Version 5.1 software
release. Since I upgraded to 5.1, my Windows 7 PC and HRD will communicate
using the Elecraft USB/Serial cable as evidenced by seeing the K3 frequency
in the HRD K3 emulation screen. However, after a few minutes the K3

HI Rick,
I am running using windows xp with no problems with version 5.1, in fact
some problems that I had for shutting down and locking up have been
corrected.
My settings are COM1 at 38,400 baud. I am also using dm780 for digital
modes with no issues at all either.

Don,
No I haven't joined there. I'm already sifting through 125-300 emails a day
(after I dropped 17 groups three months ago!). I'll join and read from the
web; that will limit my inbox.
Even when moving within the 'CW' portion of a band (I've been doing DX SP

I successfully use TRX-Manager to control my K3, and feed the frequency/mode
information through into DX4Win. TRX-Manager so far only has a couple of K3
special features implemented such as a volume control, otherwise it's
interface is similar to the K2. I am assured by the developer of
Thanks to all posters on HRD and contest programs.

You kept that K3 quiet Peter!!
I am a bit puzzled though. I have been investigating remote using HRD
(which I must register!) and also have used TRX Manager but that was
located in W6 land for a remote demo, but other than that I have yet to
understand why there is need to use any software

No special problems with HRD and the K2.
DX Labs is another great family of ham radio software tools. I usually run
Spot Collector and Pathfinder and use DXkeeper as my main log. I don't like
DX Commander as much. Fortunately there is a handy little interface software
that lets me use

Hello All-
Pardon my ignorance, but I've been using HRD with my other radios.
I'm aware that the K2/100 is supported, but don't see how or where
the cable would plug in to the radio.
The cable I'm using for my Icoms has serial on the computer end and a
1/8 mono plug on the radio end.

Jeff,
Do NOT use a standard serial cable - you risk damage to your K2. Only 3
RS-232 lines are to be connected to the K2 - TXD, RXD and signal ground.
That being said, look in your KPA100 manual and construct the computer
connection cable described there in Figure 41 on page 55. the K2 end
