I didn't notice if you said that you're running Windows or something else.

I had trouble using fldigi/rigcat with the K2, but the associated flrig
program works fine (also downloadable from the w1hkj site, the same place
you get fldigi). flrig and fldigi work

I've been using my K2 successfully with AA6YQ's DXLab Commander and
WinWarbler. There are some modes WinWarbler does not support, so I wanted
to try fldigi-3.21.40.
Fldigi is able to control the K2 using HamLib, but for some reason will not
work when using rigCAT. I downloaded the K2.xml

I've recently setup my K2 for digital modes using HRD and DM780. After some
fiddling with audio levels, HRD/DM780 seems to work reliably with my K2. It
was subsequently suggested that I try the FLdigi set of software (FLdigi,
FLrig, FLmsg and FLwrap) instead since it includes additional features

I've used FLRig/FLDigi on Linux with my K2 for a while now and had no issues -
I ran the ARRL RTTY Roundup that way this year. I don't know about the windows
version, I'll give it a try this evening and see what happens.

Are you using a USB to serial adapter? I had trouble with Fldigi and my K2
when using an adapter with the Prolific chip set. I enabled the diagnostics
and some of the data from the radio was getting garbled. I tried an FTDI
adapter and that worked. Don't ask me why some programs work and some
MS Office fast start, iTunes helper, etc.
