[Elecraft] K3 AM Help Needed!

K3/100. Using a EV 27 mike and wonderful audio reports on SSB. Just started to use the K3 on AM, driving a AL80B with 15 watts and 175 peak out. Carrier is strong, audio sounds very nice but even with the Mic gain at 60, I have less than 50% modulation. Can any one help me bring this up closer
