What Don, W3FPR, Stated is the correct way to handle the power on/off
function. Pulling power from the K3 without an orderly shut down is
very risky and reloading the firmware and configuration files remotely
could prove to be a chore.

Doesn't the K3 automatically save settings every so often via a timer? So it
would only revert to an earlier state if the power fails 'shortly' after making
a change.

I forgot to add that if you permanently connect the ACC POWER_ON pin to
ground, you will not be able to turn the K3 off with the PS0 command.
It may glitch to a power off state, but will come back on almost
immediately.

The K3 (K3S) can also be turned off safely (and store the current

That command cannot be used to turn it on (there is no power to the K3),
so the POWER_ON pin in the ACC connector can be pulled low by an
external device.

Yes. When you turn the K3 off with its power switch, it writes current

settings. When you drop power to the K3, that write

I am interested in a way to remotely power on a k3 or k3s without the remote
rig boxes. Nice apps already exist to remotely operate the kat500 and kpa500.
Any suggestions?
Why? Remote operation of my second k3 for digital modes.
Assistance appreciated.

Hi folks..
what do people do to switch on their K3 when used remotely?
up until a recent firmware upgrade, I could leave the K3 switched on and power
down the PSU, when the PSU was powered up, the K3 would come alive all by
itself. Shame that this behaviour has been changed,.
