That's a good question. I haven't noticed the problem the stiffener solves,
but I don't use the internal speaker. But one day I might.

Hi Bill
You would only need to mod the main board as the second is never used on
transmit so does not have a problem.
I would go ahead and add it so if you should ever want to use the
internal speaker you could without problems.

I found that it cleaned up some birdies, as the heavy aluminum
stiffener plate does shield the board. It takes the same time to do
two boards as to do one. You can get RX microphonics as well, and
that can happen with both boards if you have the KRX3.
I did both of mine and I'm happy I did.
