Subject: Re: [Elecraft] KX3 I/Q to soundcard isolation
I do connect KX3 IQ directly into my MacBookPro stereo in-line without any
additional isolation too and it works great without any problem at all
running under a parallels desktop virtual machine.
Is there any special reason to isolate

Hello All,
There are big differences between interfacing a PC to the KX3 I/Q port
compared to the needs of digital modes that use the headphone and mic audio
connections. The I/Q port requires a flat bandpass to at least 48Khz. If
you decide to use isolation transformers for the I/Q port, they

I need to provide electrical isolation between the I/Q output and my
mic/line input.
Since this is a 2 channel output I need 2 channel (stereo) isolation.
Is there a commercial product anyone can point out to do this?
If not then I must choose a couple of audio transformers and wire them up to
Jeff,
I don't know what problem you're having, but I run without any
additional isolation with no problem. I go directly from my KX3 IQ out
to my soundcard. Try it and see if you really need to go to the extra grief.

If you're using a RigBlaster, you already have isolation. If not,
you'll need to buy or wire up a galvanic isolator.

Jeff,
I have used transformers salvaged from computer modem cards and I have
used Xicon P/N 42TL016-R - Mouser PN 42TLC16-RC with success.
Yes, there is some falloff in the response if you try to use 192 kHz
display width, but then there is some falloff in the KX3 I/Q outputs for
that width

Is there any special reason to isolate this line ?
