Apple has a tradition of announcing
In addition to Elecraft's Mac software, I have expensive apps that will
not work under the next Mac OS. They work for me fine now and I don't
want to spend thousands of dollars to upgrade to new versions of those
apps just so they will work under the next Mac OS.
I don't need no stinkin' new
Unless you are a developer, weeks is measured in double digits. The new version
of macOS will presumably be announced at Apple’s WWDC in San Jose the first
week of June. It will not be out as a full release until September or October
which is the real time frame of concern. Unless you value
No, I just “hoped”.
In general, one can wait updating an operating system until his/her essential
softwares become compatible to the new version of operating system.

I’m sorry Keith but is there any evidence to support that assertion. That a 64
bit version will be available before the next MacOS revision is released?
I know it’s a nice thing to think. But have the developers said that’s what’s
happening? They seem to be completely missing from this thread.
K3 Utility is 64 bit version but other Elecraft utilities are 32 bit version.
So, I guess the 32 bit versions will be migrated to 64 bit version later but
before the future MacOS is released.

My understanding is that a 64 bit version of the Mac and Linux Utilities
is "in the making".
But for now, you will have to put up with the messages from Apple that
the current Utility will not work on the next OS release.

Realize that Mac versions of the utilities are important to us “insiders” also.
This is something that will be addressed in due time.

Wes,
I wonder if a better answer would be to push for versions of the utilities that
compile on an ARM chip so that it could be run on a Raspberry Pi. Particularly
as it’s already been compiled for an X86 under Linux, so all the libraries
should be there. I don’t think many of us would worry
At least with Apps running in FORTH you could use something like SwiftForth and
keep running them under Windows or MacOS!

Excellent. I look forward to seeing new versions of the OSX Utilities for the

No, you are not the only person who uses a Mac with their Elecraft equipment
and macOS utilities. Elecraft is aware of the 32 bit limitation, and so is the
developer of the KX3 app for macOS. I expect 64 bit versions of all Elecraft
utilities will be released before the general release of the
Thanks Charles.
So, am I the only person interested in using my Elecraft kit with a Mac in the
future? If not, how can we get this app updated to work on Macs from now on?
Who do we need to ask?

Unless Apple changes its position on 32 bit software like the KX3 Utility, 32
bit apps will not run on the next major release of macOS. The warning message
is just that - a warning message that the app in question will not run on
future version of the OS. The warning messages appears at random
The warning message does not merely appear just once with the first launch of
the software but on subsequent lauches as well (after shutdown of the app).
However, I have noticed that if a subsequent launch is within a small period of
time after an earlier launch where the message was shown,
It might go away, but is it still valid? Doesn’t it mean that any day soon an
update to the OS will stop the utility working? Then where are we?

Doesn't that warning go away after the first launch of the software? I
don't recall seeing it again after using the K3 software for the first time.

Does anyone know if there is a trick or other way around the error messages
